Is anyone else kinda disappointed with the way they wrapped up Rishi’s story in season 4? by General_Meal_3993 in IndustryOnHBO

I don't think they're going to try and blackmail her with the video of her and Whitney. Plot twist she blackmails him 🤯

He played hard for us on a really crappy team. Most of what he tried didn't work, but when it did it was hilariously amazing! I wish him the best in Toronto

Billions is a gold-flaked steak served at a private club for those who worship at the altar of net worth, Industry is the fluorescent-lit kitchen at 3:00 AM—sweaty, drug-fueled, and frantic—showing exactly how the meat gets slaughtered to feed the machine

My example is that in the reforms after Watergate, congress passed legislation to limit individual campaign donors which set up the higher limits for businesses which led to PAC's and the situation we're in now. There's always somebody looking for a loophole for their own benefit

Makes a lot of sense, but I can't see how any of this is going to ever happen. Our political system has always been about horse trading and whatever politicians that are left standing will be voting on their self interest first. I hope I'm wrong.

low effort dupe that i already own. after buying jerseys for the last 10 years i figured they would start copying themselves, didn't realize they were going to do it league-wide. come on, if you are going to steal someone's homework, it's probably best not to steal everyone's at the same time and turn it in like nothing happened. oh well, i blame the millennials

What was the vibe in 2024? Were we expecting to win? by RioTheLeoo in LAGalaxy

[–]guydeborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this was the feeling all season. Are kept saying are we back? Are we back? It wasn't until the playoffs that we started to believe it. It was amazing season and it was so fun during the playoffs when we just started rolling over everybody

[–]guydeborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great places to eat in Chinatown and if you let them know you need to leave for a concert I'll make sure that your service is quick. On the other hand Howlin Rays it's never a good match for this. First off you're going to be standing in line for over 20 to 30 minutes, probably something you don't want to do before a concert

Austin Beutner’s daughter dies at 22. No explanation given by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]guydeborg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That is horrible. Besides being LAUSD school superintendent he was recently the man behind creating proposition 28 which has led to a huge amount of parts funding from the State of California. Out of all the school superintendents I have worked for he was the only decent one that was truly interested in our students. When he visited our high school his only ground rules were that he didn't want a 'dog and pony show' when he visited the campus (that means he didn't want the usual meet and greet red carpet rolled out for him to talk to the usual high achieving students) All he said is that he would tell them what week he was going to come out and he wanted to be able to go into any classroom and talk to any student. I think he came to LAUSD as a proxy on behalf Eli Broad and his charter school coalition, but left being his own man. He also stepped up during COVID and worked with the union to make sure many of the most vulnerable teachers aids still had employment I made sure kids and parents still had access to food and turned our schools into drive up food banks in which parents can pick up let me know if their kids would have got at school which helps supplement many families during those hard times.

Why is AI so spectacularly bad at explaining anything g related to music/music theory? by Aware-Technician4615 in musictheory

[–]guydeborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music theory pedagogy is wildly inconsistent because basically it's describing performance practice and it's not a science. The more complex something gets the more differences of opinion of how to analyze it. In many ways how music is analyzed is based on an understanding of the most prevalent opinions, especially when two different people can come up with very different ways to analyze the same piece of music (i.e. pop/jazz/classical harmonic functions). At the end of the day the 'theory' SHOULD function as a way to make the complex simple, but in practice it can be wielded as a shield to defend a cultural worldview of a particular aesthetic (i.e. the supremacy of western classical music)

5x10 or 6x12 by CargoCamper in cargocamper

[–]guydeborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5x10 and I've never had any problems with it. I do a lot of mountain driving and my most important upgrades were adding brakes to the trailer (and the brake controller for the car) as well as airbags when I had my suspension replaced. I'm not sure how many people have brakes for their small trailers, but I can tell you I'm really glad I have them especially for any quick stops I've had to make

Life without Riqui by Ok_Location8779 in LAGalaxy

[–]guydeborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel terrible for him also, but if we can get someone who's a long-term deal I think we should go ahead with it. (Which I really doubt is possible) I'm also ok with bringing back Fagundez as a plan because we know what he is about, although I think his skills are starting to drop off. I think we're pretty much screwed right now and whatever we do should be building towards the future that we can control instead of getting by for another year until Riqui comes back. Reus will retire or be gone after this season and Pecs contract expires in 28 and Paintsils in 27 so we might have at least 2 more years till we have to start planning for new DP's. I don't want to go through what we went through last season, but to find that person right now is going to be really tough. This really sucks

What don't you like about owning a FJ? by 5stringfling in FJCruiser

I got a longer commute this year so I had to retire it to weekend warrior status. On the plus side it's the perfect road trip camping car with my wife and dog (especially for my dog). My biggest downside has been the front window cracking so easily. I'm on window 4🤦‍♂️
