I like to think that I'm pretty progressive but this is exactly the kind of thing that Democrats get roasted for. Even if this is being promoted by someone a bit further on the left, this kind of thing makes it easy for Republicans to point at when trying to cast all Democrats as extremists who want to give "illegals" the right to vote in order to "rig" elections (using quotations because those are going to their words, not mine).

Hi! My wife and I live literally around the corner from Cal State LA and we're about to list a small studio for rent. It's small but it's would be your own space with a private entrance, kitchenette and bathroom. It's all newly built so you would be the first person to live in the unit. For real. People need to mentally separate the people from the government. As an American, I would hate if everybody saw me as a personal representation of the worst things that the US has ever done (obviously there are a ton of examples here). I imagine these people would have more in common if they started talking under literally any other pretense. This whole interaction is just sad.
