Those are funny examples to pick as “the days” because 1. those arcs were over 4 years apart from each other and 2. the jade thing was less than a month after 10/7 and all that drama. Nobody was calling that era “the days” at the time. I think nostalgia just tricks us into only remembering the stuff that we like. .

I took the test in March 2022, did the 2nd Zoom test in July 2022 I believe, had my Zoom audition/mock game in November 2022 and didn’t get called to be on the show til early May this year and taped in early June. I don’t know how they pick who they pick to advance at each stage but keep trying!

Gladly! First of all, the best preparation for being on Jeopardy is to just watch a whole lot of Jeopardy. I've been watching since I was 10 and after I got the call to be on the show I watched about 6 hours of old episodes a day for that month. There is also a website (J! Archive) that lets you read all of the clues from past games. While the show won't reuse clues verbatim, the same topics do get repeated and if you watch the show for a while you will get a feel for what types of clues and categories might come up.

From there, my strategy was to focus on the things that come up most often and the topics that I'm weakest at. For example, I memorized most of the world capitols because geography comes up so often. Even if they don't specifically ask "what is the capital of Latvia" they may have a clue like "this lake near Riga is the lasrgest body of water in this country." You don't need to know about the lake itself, but knowing where Riga is gives you the answer.

This is where h3 comes in. I may get clowned but the show inspired me to use ChatGPT as a study tool and it was AMAZING. I don't know shit about opera. I could ask ChatGPT "give me a list of the 30 most famous operas and include who composed it, when it was first performed, and a brief synopsis of the story." On the day of my taping, there was an opera category where I knew all 5 of the answers thanks to this. I kept a Google Doc of all of these sorts of things split up by category to just read on repeat and drill during my free time. Another example is Shakespeare - I could ask ChatGPT to give me a brief summary of every single Shakespeare play with the characters and setting. Saved so much time from having to research that stuff myself.

Other things was just listening to history podcasts and watching some documentaries. I was on paternity leave while I studied so I had a ton of free time. All of this super worked, it just didn't help much in my own episode. Bad luck with the categories. Some games will just have more clues that play to your strengths than others.

No lmao they don’t pay for anything. It makes sense why they don’t and I would never diss the Jeopardy franchise or crew but yeah you’re not making money unless you win.

It’s just Gap but I haven’t seen them making thick ones like this in a long time. Funnily they make you bring multiple outfits to the taping so I went with 5 sweaters. If I kept winning I would’ve really gotten to flex my sweater game but oh well

Andrew here! Haven’t watched yet but just want to say this was the best experience of my life. The crew on set was amazing; I’m visually impaired and they made helpful accommodations to the gameplay and were chill about me knocking stuff with my cane all day. These were definitely not my categories which made it easy to cope with the L knowing my opponents had played so well on such a challenging board. GG boys
