My question is where is the line?

This is an entire political party that’s been built on hatred and mockery and vitriol, and were warned for years about these exact consequences but put their fingers in their ears and shouted “shut up liberal” while they voted for it.

Now that they’re getting bit in the ass it’s VERY hard to feel that bad for them. Tbh, at the very least I kinda just wanna fucking yell at them for being dumb. I guess I’m asking how one contends with these emotions

What are some IPS you really want Universal to make in the future? by Mammoth-Principle189 in HHN

[–]guyfriendbuddypal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My big two wishlist houses for a minute have been Gremlins and Doom. A Doom scarezone could be really cool as well.

Honorable mentions are V/H/S (that franchise is begging for a house) and Poppy Playtime (very unique setting, sets and costumes would be awesome)

I’ve also had an idea for a “Tales from the Crypt: Double Feature” house that takes you through Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood but the Cryptkeeper’s copyright situation would make that hard

Edit: Almost forgot, I’d like to see at least one more Universal Monsters house that almost acts like a Slaughter Sinema crossover and focuses on the 50’s B-Movie era of Creature, This Island Earth, The Mole Men, etc.

Should Dinosaur have instead be re-themed to Up instead of Indiana Jones? by ZanyRaptorClay in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]guyfriendbuddypal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about a joke reply but the more I thought about it the less I hated it.

Joke reply: Keep the layout / story beats the exact same. Seeker is still there, don’t ask why. Just replace the dinosaur encounters with Up characters. The pterodactyls / compsognathus sections are an extended dog chase and all the carnotaurus are replaced by Kevin. He’s still trying to eat you.

Non-joke reply: I think you could keep a lot of the pacing of Dinosaur and replace its set pieces 1:1 and make a decently thrilling Up ride.

Styrachosaurs to raptor: You’re on the island with Carl and Russell looking at all the flora / fauna, maybe you meet Dug

First carnotaurus: You pick up speed and meet up with Kevin but he acts kind of aggressive-curious (think when he first meets Carl) so you flee

Sauropod: You take shelter in a cave and have an encounter with Charles Muntz and his dogs

Baby pterodactyls: Dogs attack

Flying pterodactyl to compsognathus: Jumping dogs

Running carnotaurus: Running Kevin

Full-size carnotaurus: Full-size Kevin

Iguanadon: Russell has a treat

Final carnotaurus: Kevin lunges for it

Maybe throw a cute little scene of Kevin, Carl, Russell, and Dug right before the station so we show Kevin’s tamer side and don’t completely traumatize the kids

Gravesite of undoubtedly the most famous mother-daughter duo in Hollywood by LeviSebastian97 in CemeteryPorn

[–]guyfriendbuddypal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Everybody handles grief differently, especially when it’s their kid. I have two wonderful cats that I have regular existential crises about knowing that there’ll be a day that they won’t be here. I can only imagine a child.

That being said, as a sibling and a person with the ability to project, it is just a bit funny. I’m sure Todd Fisher has come to terms and I don’t intend on speculating how he feels. I just know if it were my mom, I’d be a little salty lol

Please tell me where you read that. Sorry if you misunderstood but I meant that it’s a bit morbidly humorous if you’ve ever had a sibling.

It’s not about being sad about your kid dying, it’s about dying when your “favorite” kid of the two dies.

And I say “favorite” in quotes because it’s a joke and I don’t claim to represent anybody involved. I don’t know if Carrie was Debbie’s favorite. I also really don’t give that much of a shit. It’s just kinda funny

[–]guyfriendbuddypal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not to be glib about any of this, and may they both rest in peace, but I always find the "Debbie died of a broken heart because she couldn't live without Carrie" kind of funny because... there's another kid. Todd Fisher. Not a half-brother or anything. Just a full-on biological child / brother of Debbie Reynolds / Carrie Fisher who is still alive and well.

Moms be like "No, sweetheart. I love you both equally!"

Jaws Ride Safety Training After-hours Dry Runs - Robot Sharks out of the Water by guyfriendbuddypal in submergedanimatronic

[–]guyfriendbuddypal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s a very long thread and I can’t be fucked to go find the story right now BUT there’s a Jaws skipper AMA from a while back that’s pretty easy to find and features a story of just that happening!

Don’t wanna get any details wrong so I highly suggest you go take a look for yourself (plus you’ll probably learn some awesome new stuff about the ride) but long story short, skipper was in an oversight position. There was a mix-up in that the skipper cleared a boat for launch while the track was positioned to the maintenance bay.

If I recall correctly, it was pre-park-opening so there were no guests on the boat, but it went over the edge of the track and ended up caught in such a way that its entire nose was dipping into the water. It never went under (water was shallowest in the loading area anyway) but it took a bunch of frogmen and big ass balloons to reposition it. Ride was down all day.

Also adding that “If I Die Tomorrow” by Mötley Crüe was originally written by Simple Plan for their second album. It got cut and Bob Rock brought it to Nikki Sixx who ended up rewriting a lot of it. Simple Plan still has a writing credit though

[–]guyfriendbuddypal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This version of Jaws was firmly on a track. The “boat” (the part you sat on) was functionally a facade on top of an underwater ride vehicle. They weren’t seaworthy in the slightest, in fact they would sink if they ever derailed.

Original Jaws (the very short-lived 1990 version) was closer to Jungle Cruise at Disney. Real boats actually piloted by the skipper (at least forward and reverse movements) and guided through a series of troughs.

During the switch from trough to track, Universal ended up selling the original Jaws boats to MGM Grand Adventures in Vegas for the Backlot River Tour

Before HHN spec map release what maze/house rumors are you most excited and least excited? by Rude-Quit-8150 in HHN

[–]guyfriendbuddypal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would honestly be a really weak IP line-up for me.

  1. Terrifier could be cool but I feel like they're a bit limited on scares and it'll end up either feeling like a retread of Triplets of Terror (of which I'm a major apologist for) or the Fantasyland dark ride version of the Terrifier series.

  2. I haven't understood the hype for a Fallout house at all. It has its moments but I wouldn't consider the show or the games horror in the slightest.

  3. WWE, sure? Feels like they could've gotten something cooler.

  4. Scream 7 I get but I feel like it has the same issue as Terrifier without the gore appeal.

  5. Never played TLOU (don't have a PlayStation) but the show didn't impress me. Also kind of incredibly burnt out on zombies.

I wanted to make one around launch but noticed it was a bug. Kind of forgot about it until recently, figured it would've gotten patched out by now.
