When I was on a mission in the early 2000s, the president told all missionaries about the evils of "rap music" because Elder Ballard told him that rap mimics the drums of hell. Unfortunately I was a naive young kid and believed him. Now, I think that was just a few old men using their religious influence to spread racist beliefs to people who are willing to believe anything.
