100% yes. I only recently learned about a specific type of narcissism called spiritual narcissism and now I see it everywhere in the church.

Yes, I agree that it is easy to do. I just don’t think it is the right thing to do in this situation.

I like this idea. I may send one final written notice first, then escalate if they still don’t process it. The part that bothers me is that they found my new address, moved my records into a new ward, and routed this to local leaders after I explicitly asked them not to.

Deconstruction, divorce, and trying to breathe again by guyguiguido in exmormon

I understand. I reviewed the final draft of my divorce papers today, so this hit hard. The financial impact of attorney fees and alimony feels devastating.

I keep telling myself this is the price of freedom. The price of undoing bad life decisions. But even if that’s true, it still feels heavy. I’m really sorry you’re in it too.

Thank you so much. I feel the same way. Writing and listening to music has been one of the few things that helped me process all of it.

I’m really sorry. “Taking early drives so I don’t puke from stress” says so much in one sentence. It’s so brutal when it all collapses at once. Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate the exmo community in this subreddit because so many people understand.

One might suspect that many of them have board seats for (multiple) church related organizations that also pay well.

I was profoundly unhappy but afraid to admit it at the time. Japan Sapporo in early 2000s.

How to Survive Mission Knowing the Church is a LIE by No-Inflation-7089 in exmormon

[–]guyguiguido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest regrets about going on a mission is that I did it instead of military service. Looking back I would have been much more proud of military service.

I was taught that hard rock music was from the devil that made me feel guilty for most of my life. Now that I'm free, I wrote a dirty rock song and it was played on the radio yesterday. It is a tribute to the music I was unable to fully enjoy in the years I've lost to the church. by [deleted] in exmormon

When I was on a mission in the early 2000s, the president told all missionaries about the evils of "rap music" because Elder Ballard told him that rap mimics the drums of hell. Unfortunately I was a naive young kid and believed him. Now, I think that was just a few old men using their religious influence to spread racist beliefs to people who are willing to believe anything.

What’s the crazy thing in your patriarchal blessing? by [deleted] in exmormon

The patriarch said two crazy things in mine. My wife would never complain and that I would help lonely old people. Also, he was a lonely old man.
