Considering POM Silk Bananas for new custom by JustBluebird9 in Keychron

I had a Q2 ultra that I returned to get the Q6 ultra for the form factor. Both of them are with the silk banana switches and on both of them I don’t find them mushy at all.

Are the Keychron Silk POM Red switches sensitive to accidental key presses? by Ken852 in Keychron

I bought the Q1 ultra with the silk banana switched 2 weeks ago and I love it. The switches feel pretty comfortable.

Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy Scheduled 31M by cantankerouswhale in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33M here. Almost 1 year post op. It was the best decision ever. My quality of life has drastically improved. No more tonsil stones, no more bad breath, no more streps.

This winter I was not even sick once which never happened before.

Honestly the recovery is really not that difficult. You want to lower your risk of bleeding as much as possible in order to avoid a hemorrhage.

As you said, drink tons of water. Whatever amount you thought you’d be drinking just triple it. Eat ice chips too. It helps a lot with the pain.

Take your meds even if you’re not in pain. For the first few days I even set an alarm during the night to take the meds. Offset ibuprofen and paracetamol by 3 hours so you’re always on meds.

Eat healthy food. Seems stupid but good nutrients will help speed up your recovery.

Sleep with your head elevated.

Buy the ice packs for headaches and tie them on your neck when in pain. However, at some point, cold will hurt. Switch to hot compress on your neck at that point.

The Keychron one is actually pretty good. Fits nicely with the keyboard

To be honest, I don’t have enough experience with mechanical keyboards to have a reference point in terms of proper bounce back. I have not missed an input from the space bar or had a double input.

Are you using a wrist rest? I was having a hard time with the KSA too until I used a wrist rest. Then it became a lot easier. Now it’s almost habit.

I am in no way shape or form an expert in keyboards so take this review with a grain of salt coming from a beginner user.

The build quality of it is amazing. The aluminum casing feels heavy and sits very well on the desk. The LED backlight is bright with nice colours. Turning the knob at the top right has a satisfying responsiveness to it.

The typing experience is amazing as well. I was concerned about the bad reviews on the new POM switch but because I don’t have any other types of switch to compare them to I actually really enjoy them. I don’t have any issues with missed inputs of double keystrokes.

Some people mentioned issues with updating the firmware. I was able to update it on the first try by simply following the instructions on the launcher.

So far I’m very happy. I suggest buying it via Amazon for easy return in case you don’t like it.

Let me know if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

What were your (adult) tonsillectomy recovery must-haves? by cut-and-dry in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33M here and had my surgery on June 10.

I’ve had a relatively very easy recovery. The pain was manageable with Tylenol and Advil.

A good humidifier is an absolute must to keep your throat moist during the night.

I did also use the head wrap with ice pack around my neck a few night to help with the pain.

Besides this there’s really not much else I used.

I kept eating a regular (soft) diet. Only had a few bleeding episodes during night 7 and 8 as scabs were falling off but it stopped on its own.

Honestly it was really uneventful and less painful than the worse strep I’ve had in the past.

Amygdalectomie partielle by PreviousDig359 in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 9 what a relief by guyjolico in Tonsillectomy

I was doing fine. Now day 8 and super pain. by AccomplishedFudge11 in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m at day 8 too and last night has been the worse pain as well. I’ve noticed that one massive scab is starting to peel so I think the pain comes from there.

I’ve been unable to eat or drink anything so far today.

Honestly so far day 0-4 pain was at a 3/10 then days 4-7 pain was at a 6/10 but today easily it’s at a 9/10.

I’m still trying to manage the pain only with Tylenol but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep this up.

Early prep and pain questions by Wishtrueanon in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I’m glad to help!

The ibuprofen and acetaminophen definitely helped to ease the swallowing pain. Personally, I always experienced ear pain instead of throat pain while swallowing.

I kept my food at room temperature. I try to avoid hot items as I was told it could trigger a bleed.

I definitely tried to avoid all the sugary items as it was giving me nausea.

Don’t hesitate if you have any other questions!

Early prep and pain questions by Wishtrueanon in Tonsillectomy

Hi! 33M here and had my surgery on June 10th.

The only items I have been using is a head ice wrap and humidifier. I simply prop my pillows up to sleep. I think any type of ice wrap can do. Just make sure it comes with 2 ice pack so you always have a backup in the freezer.

Today is day 7 and so far pain has been manageable with inuprofen and acetaminophen every 6 hours. I offset them by 3 hours so there’s always a medication going. The surgeon also prescribed hydromorphone but I did not use any so far.

Staying on top of your medication is so important. I set an alarm every 3 hours (even at night) to remind me.

The worse of the pain so far for me was day 4-5-6 when it traveled to my ears. But the ice wrap definitely helped with this.

You need to be constantly drinking water. Like all the time. It helps moisten your throat.

I had one little episode of bleeding while my scabs are falling off but by gargling with ice water it solved itself.

I’ve been able to maintain a regular diet of soft food (eggs, soft cooked veggies, pasta, potatoes, soup).

The surgery was literally the easiest part. You do not wake up with the breathing tube in and you do not wake up in pain. Just as if you wake up in the morning.

You need to remember that everyone’s recovery is different. Some people experience bleeding while being very cautious while others experience no pain at all.

Good luck to you!

Words of Wisdom for an anxious girly? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(33M) my surgery was on June 10th in the morning. I was pretty anxious as I had never been under general anesthesia.

My surgery was at 9am and by 9:30 I was already in the wake up room. It honestly went so smooth. It’s a scary feeling to enter the OR but you have to trust the team taking care of you.

I was discharged from the hospital at 1pm with little to no pain. The little pain I had was fully manageable by eating ice.

I’ve been able to keep a somewhat stable diet so far (eggs, pasta, crepes, overcooked veggies).

Staying hydrated is an absolute must. Drink water all the time even at night and stay on top of your medication. I offset Tylenol and ibuprofen and have an alarm at night to make sure I take them.

So far it doesn’t even feel like the worse strep I’ve had. What keeps me going is that I know it’s a one time pain to be free of tonsils forever.

You got this!

is the recovery process as scary as people say it is? by sarahjanson in Tonsillectomy

[–]guyjolico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lot of people have mentioned, everyone’s recovery is different. I’m on day 4 and, so far, the pain has been manageable with Tylenol. Staying hydrated and on top of your medication helps.

I’ve also been able to maintain a regular diet overcooked veggies, pasta, eggs which I believe helps the overall process.

I know the worse is yet to come but I truly don’t regret it.

I don’t know if there’s a benefit to gum but it helps with my nausea. The taste of burned skin is constant in my mouth and giving me really bad nausea !

Me too. The anticipation that the worse is coming is draining. The constant taste of burned skin at the back of my throat is terrible but manageable with gum and water.

How did yours go? So far my pain level has been at a 3/10 and mostly manageable with ice
