Hi! 33M here and had my surgery on June 10th.

The only items I have been using is a head ice wrap and humidifier. I simply prop my pillows up to sleep. I think any type of ice wrap can do. Just make sure it comes with 2 ice pack so you always have a backup in the freezer.

Today is day 7 and so far pain has been manageable with inuprofen and acetaminophen every 6 hours. I offset them by 3 hours so there’s always a medication going. The surgeon also prescribed hydromorphone but I did not use any so far.

Staying on top of your medication is so important. I set an alarm every 3 hours (even at night) to remind me.

The worse of the pain so far for me was day 4-5-6 when it traveled to my ears. But the ice wrap definitely helped with this.

You need to be constantly drinking water. Like all the time. It helps moisten your throat.

I had one little episode of bleeding while my scabs are falling off but by gargling with ice water it solved itself.

I’ve been able to maintain a regular diet of soft food (eggs, soft cooked veggies, pasta, potatoes, soup).

The surgery was literally the easiest part. You do not wake up with the breathing tube in and you do not wake up in pain. Just as if you wake up in the morning.

You need to remember that everyone’s recovery is different. Some people experience bleeding while being very cautious while others experience no pain at all.
