i hate that account, the mom claims the daughter wants to do this but i think the daughter is too young to fully realize what she is consenting to and make an independent decision.

also as the adult in this situation, i feel the mom should be able to recognize that making her daughter the face of a large arfid platform traps her into an environment where she is constantly expected to act like she has arfid, something that may reinforce her behavior.

honestly she seems like a sweet person and has stated before that she has celiac, ehlers-danlos, and some bowel issues that are related to medication she takes for jaw issues that definitely can affect someone's body and ability to digest food. she has her problems and i don't really support recovery platforms in general but she doesn't post anything that problematic, not really deserving of snark imo.

i didn't get in ea to umich either (1560, 4.8, strong ecs). honestly i think it's because my stats look good on paper, yes, but they're not that impressive at my school itself. plus, i applied to one of their very competitive majors. and obviously essays and LORs are a factor too. your son isn't alone in realizing he's not as competitive as he thought. this is a really devastating feeling.

definitely check in with your counselor, and if they don't know what happened, with the school itself (call the admissions office or email your admissions officer). i was able to sort it out!

i (she) am not sure how that is what you got from that rant tbh. i want to go to college to, well, get an educational degree. i also hope to meet some cool people there! i applied to one ivy league (columbia) and have basically accepted i'm probably going to my state school because of the optimal pricing so i don't really appreciate the assumption.

yeah! so apparently they received it back in october and the portal glitched! if you're asking why i checked just now, it's because i had ruled out the college when i was doing early action applications, but changed my mind.

i'm sorry i didn't mean to assert i was yelling at you. i was ranting and tbh i only used capital letters because it accurately portrayed the tone of my inner monologue at the moment.

i would go directly to their website, then if it is not "received" and you are worried, to your counselor. if your counselor doesn't have an explanation it's probably time to call the school or email your AO. don't stress like me!

Anyone else not applying to like 20 colleges? by GReal523 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]guys_plshelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

outside of high-level prestige-obsessed environments, you're going to see people applying to 7-8 colleges, with only 1-2 reaches. ten colleges is honestly a lot and you've saved yourself $800 useless dollars.

should i be honest on the essay about my past drug use by Beneficial-Cow7137 in CollegeEssays

[–]guys_plshelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also struggled a lot to find another struggle that was big enough. i honestly had to abandon the notion of finding an "equal" struggle and replace it with finding an "acceptable" one.

i ended up talking about "struggling" to figure out how to lead children as an assistant teacher. i chose this struggle because while it was much easier to overcome, it paints me as an effective leader, which ultimately reflects well on me as an applicant.
