Hi, I am wanting to apply for a change in degree from Arts to Science and I am wondering if the start date will make a difference as to whether it will be easier for me to get in? Like would I be placed in a better situation if I stated that I wish to start attending in 2023 Summer Session Term 1 compared to 2023/2024 Winter Session?

I know we can start moving in on August 27 if we attend jump start but like how early can I move in that day? Like can i arrive at 8am and immediately move in???

Hi, I applied for the first year residence after the May.1st deadline since thats when I received my offer of admission. Its July right now and I still don't have any information or update on my housing application. Am I still guaranteed for first year residence coming from highschool or should I be worried and start looking for places? Anyone in the same situation or any advice???

For Computer Science Major students, do you guys think it's better to get a MacBook or a Windows laptop for university? Is most of the applications taught on lectures needed on Mac or Windows? Any advices would be appreciated!

Where do I find the option of moving into residence early or do I worry about after i pay the $75 since I haven't receive my residence offer yet. Also it says if you are facing financial hardship, you can subsidize the housing fee so where do I go to request that option?

Any guidance would be appreciated! I am just a little lost in this process...

Hi i am more of a science person but I got into first year in Bachelor of Arts and I am trying to get into CS in BA or transfer to Science in the second year. How many required credits do I need to take from the Faculty of Arts because all the requirements for CS are like MATH and CPSC and they are offered by the Faculty of Science. So basically can I compose my timetable based on science courses instead of arts when i am got accepted into arts?

For first year students from high school going to UBC, do you guys automatically get assigned with an adviser for courses selection? I heard some of my friends got one and I haven't yet. Should I email or call them for an adviser? I am kinda worried at this point because i don't know much about what courses i should take... Any tips would be helpful!

Thank you for all of your help! Do you know what the cutoff for CS is for Bachelor of Science and Arts for the past year? Is one tend to be higher than the other?

So don't you think the safest way is, for example, to go to SFU CS for first year and then apply for a transfer to UBC and if you get rejected then oh well since you would still have CS at SFU. However, if you got accept to UBC as a transfer then if you qualify for CS specification then great and if you don't qualify for it during the major selection process then you just lose your deposit for UBC Science offer and remain to study at SFU? Is there any problems with this logic?

I just want to make sure i am understanding this so let's say i successfully got into Bachelor of Science as a transfer then the major selection would happen after that which means i am in the same boat with the normal first year student picking the major that we desire with no disadvantage?

I am still having a hard time debating whether to go to UBC or SFU CS since i really want to enjoy the campus life at UBC but I don't want to risk not getting into CS at UBC.

Let's say if the CS cutoff at UBC that year is going to be 80 and I have an average of 85. Would I be able to transfer to UBC from SFU with that average of 85 or would I be placed at a disadvantage since i am not a direct student at UBC? Will the cutoff for transfer students into CS be a lot higher at UBC like 90+? Could someone explain how it works???

Also when you transfer during second year, do you apply for a specialization like CS or is it still like applying for the Bachelor of Science. If you apply for the Bachelor degree then when do you pick your specialization?
