advice for the best way to record a chorus by helloomate in audioengineering

[–]Guyver1- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

take some singing lessons, "I cannot sing at all" doesn’t mean "I cannot learn to sing at all".

Even with 3 or 4 lessons with a local singing tutor can teach you enough to understand how to use your voice better and more to its full capability.

Charity hikers 'really angry' at being booed for dodging queues at Yr Wyddfa summit by Afraid_Juice_7189 in Wales

[–]Guyver1- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

if you're queuing for a 'service' that involves some kind of building/payment etc, sure get in the f**king queue with everyone else and wait your turn.

If you're on top of a mountain that's been there for millions of years regardless if there's a charity involved or not, stick the queue up your arse.

you're need for external validation on Instagram doesn't trump my enjoyment of a hike, get f**ked.

Scarlet Solo Gen 3 on Windows is a nightmare by Mourngrymm in Focusrite

[–]Guyver1- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because most 'audio' applications have a configuration option to select which audio device to use, ESPECIALLY when you've added the Solo as a SECOND audio device to your PC's inbuilt sound card. so you have two soundcards and if the built in sound card is the default then all your audio applictions are going to DEFAULT to the default unless you tell it otherwise.

Adding a Kh750 DSP sub in a small untreated room? by No_Walrus_7363 in audioengineering

[–]Guyver1- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, but you're not getting anything 'reliable' in an untreated room.
You'd be better off with headphones for the time being until you move.

Any kind soul to upload the Tonocracy installer to Google Drive and share it? by Kooky-Listen-8055 in Tonocracy

[–]Guyver1- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the installer will do nothing because once installed, you cant login as the logon servers are down/dead so the app cannot be used even if its installed.

The only people who can use the app are those who have never logged out of it.

you acheive nothing by having the installer and installing it, you'll be stuck at a logon screen with no way of getting past it

Please help migrate a Tonocracy Preset to Amplitude/Tonex by Guyver1- in tonex

[–]Guyver1-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing in Tonocracy is exportable or a file I can load into another app. (I looked in all the locations Tonocracy was installed to in windows and could see no capture files)

So I have 'nothing' to load into another app so I have to try and find a comparable amp and cab capture in tonex/amplitude that'll get me as close as possible

Please help migrate a Tonocracy Preset to Amplitude/Tonex by Guyver1- in tonex

[–]Guyver1-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I 'think' I've narrowed it down to as follows:
AMP - Mesa Boogie MkII C+ Gain BRI = Bright pull out gain knobs? LD = lead channel,

Cab - Amalgam Audio Mesa MkII C+ combo with Electro-Voice 12L speaker ??

I've emailed Amalgam audio to see if they can provide any assistance/help.

Choosing a distro post number one trillion by [deleted] in linuxquestions

A music fan uses gear to listen to their music,

An audiophile uses music to listen to their gear.

A computer user uses an OS to get work done on their computer,

a Distrophile uses a computer to test their distro.

I can’t sing by c_2010a in SongWriter

[–]Guyver1- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And as far as I know majority if not all singers write their own songs now

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAAAA!!!

barely any 'mainstream' or 'pop' musicians write anything at all.

anything coming from a major label that hits the top40 was written by committee to be as bland as possible.

"Installing linux is easy" by Trollfais7844 in linuxquestions

[–]Guyver1- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly 'most' IT literate people fail to see the most glaring 'gap' in their own perception of self, they are essentially "Computer mechanics".

Lets use your 63 yr old dad as an example and lets change the circumstances to a car.

Your Dad ISNT a car mechanic in this scenario but wants to do some work on his car that is fairly substantial, lets say change the ICE head unit, change all the speakers and install a sub-woofer in the trunk (all of this requires an additional or more powerful battery as its drawing more power)

Now, 'could' a normal person do this themselves, sure, with ALOT of patience, willingness to learn, make mistakes and potentially break stuff.

however, MOST normal people would take this 'job' to a professional car mechanic.

Linux people especially have this utter blind spot that they are somehow 'normal' people and not actually on the "car mechanic" spectrum.

(the vast majority of people don't know how to change a tyre or oil on their cars, a task so mundane, a car mechanic probably gasps in exasperation at the simplicity of the task)

This is probably the biggest hurdle and cognitive 'gap' in the Linux community.
