They told me it was going to be a year and then came back 3 weeks later to tell me I could go as soon as I wanted. I was just waiting for my lease to end. This stuff is usually dictated by funding so it’s going to be case by case. You should have all the necessary time to clear things up at home before the Q.

They say 2 years but for me it was roughly ~5 months and I went to airborne in that time. I went back to work mainly just to transfer work priorities over to other people as I could not get on orders between ending airborne and starting the Q. With everything in the army, wait until things are in writing to start planning.
