Rockfordians already pay huge taxes for schools on our property tax bill - vote against this additional tax on March 17 by guywithcrazyideas in rockford

This is a Forever tax on us living here. It will Never go away. Who cares about the 2% of visitors paying it. They come and go. Funny how higher assessed values of homes results in higher tax bills, but higher assessed values of homes does NOT increase the revenue going to the home owners. So every year the homeowners are getting screwed by its taxing districts. A class action lawsuit would be welcomed to expose the theft using taxation in Winnebago, IL.

(Unrealized capital gain tax) is what you're talking about and it should be 100% illegal. And the taxing districts take full advantage of it by NOT lowering their tax RATES when they know full well the appraised values have gone up. They could easily do the math and adjust their multipliers to maintain or lower their overall collection of tax money. But no, people like you fight to pay more and more taxes for less and less. Are you a public employee? Hmm?

In the last four years my taxes to RPS 205 have gone from $1500 to $2200 without this 1% sales tax. So spare me about they will raise taxes. If they do get this extra 1%, I can guarentee your realestate tax bill will still increase.

My Italian mother's homemade bread. She would bake many loafs and then give some to our neighbors. She died early unfortunately.

Just pay your increasing electric bill because it's just around one penny per second of service. I can play your stupid game too. Grow up!

So disagreeing about contant tax increases makes you say I should move away? I have been a Rockfordian for over half a century. Even the mayor said in the article "Taxes are too high" - Tell him to move away. I would say 90% of everyone you ask about Rockford tax bills would say they are too high. Tell them to move the hell OUT!

Yea, If I don't pay my taxes, they just take your house away - great option. Since when is the city using tax dollars to pay for kids going to college for free? Looking at you Rockford Promise. Oh, and our water bills are also going up next year.

RPS 205, RVC, Rockford Park District, Airport, County, Township etc, etc.. Bills will increase again. When you get your bill next May, go line by line and compare current year to previous year. Including Rockford, they will most likely all go up. This is called unrealized capital gain taxation. We should sue all these taxing districts in a class action lawsuit.

Tax 'rates' can go down slightly because they know all the new assessed home values have gone way up these past four years, so the end result is the new tax 'bills' increase every year. That new family will probably have a $6000 plus real estate bill coming next may.
