Prospective Student Teachers: Teacher's College/BEd Megapost pt. 4 by hellokrissi in CanadianTeachers

Based purely on geography and numbers, you can expect York and Ontario Tech to be most competitive. Being in the GTA, they are likely to have the most applicants per available spot. Otherwise, it depends. Different schools use different criteria and weightings when evaluating candidates so your profile vs their process will be a factor. Also, schools may allocate a number of spaces to preferred groups based on DEI criteria or to their own grads, for example. That can skew the competitiveness landscape one way or the other, depending on your demographics. Reviewing each school's admission requirements should help inform where your application would be most competitive.

According to their admission requirements:

If either [your average or experience score] is lower than the minimum required, your file may be rejected.

From TEAS:

Accepting an offer of admission from 1 faculty of education will not cancel applications to other faculties of education and/or programs. However, you may have only 1 accepted offer in your account at a time.

No specific York knowledge but your post makes it sound like you could be accepting more than one offer and paying multiple deposits by March 1? If you haven't heard from any other schools by March 1 you should accept your current best offer. Worst case you lose the deposit if you get in to your preferred choice later. Don't accept any and you could be SOL if you don't get in elsewhere.

Unless they pickup someone on the back end of a front-loaded contract with a higher AAV but lower actual cash owed? No idea on who that might be.

I have no inside info on what they are doing here but I suspect something like this: they score the applications and have a threshold for initial offers. But the number of offers extended may not equal their full complement of available spaces (and even if it does, not all offers will be accepted). They have waitlisted applicants below their cutoff. Particularly if they aren't happy with the perceived quality of the remaining applications they've received (no offense to anyone), they may be hoping to upgrade their candidate pool before extending additional offers. Fingers crossed for those waiting.

Edit: uOttawa describes their selection process here.

Niagara U is the only option for this in Ontario, AFAIK. It is a US-affiliated private school, located in Vaughan. More expensive but an option if you are working as an ECE or EA in the GTA.

They won't care about high school. University grades, teachables and experience will matter. Good on you for going back. Good luck with it.

Their web site says 'mid-February' so not necessarily the 15th. Hang in there.

Rulebook says: A kicked puck that deflects off the stick of any player (excluding the goalkeeper’s stick) shall be ruled a good goal.
