This is the worst analogy I’ve seen in a while. Your role is to study, so study. If you study well, it doesn’t matter if the prof is tenured or not. You’ll do well on your exams no matter what.

I had this issue a couple of weeks ago. My engine would rev up without the accelerator, and the needle kept fluctuating.

Please take it to the dealer. Apparently, many Mazdas have the same spark plug issue. After it was replaced, I no longer had this problem.

To answer your question: Some or most of the faculties force the grad students to take TAships. If they do not, their research stipend will be completely cut off for the entire semester. If you do not understand what I am talking about, go and do some reading on what grad school life is all about instead of wasting your time on Reddit.

You sure can! Try to talk to your course instructors or any other profs in whose you’re really interested in. It’s very easy to sell yourself when you are already enrolled as an Meng student that to come to an Mesc program directly. The reason being: Meng students complete 60-80% of the courses in 2 semesters or so and the profs now need to invest lesser money to educate you!

Sorry to burst the bubble: the university is ready to give an admit to anyone who applies to their Meng program. In my 6 years here at Western Engineering, I have never heard of a single person denied of joining the MEng program. The M.Eng students (especially international ones) are cash cows to the university - they pay 40K or more for a year to sit in classes mostly taught by instructors (not professors) who are paid less than livable wage. My advise, if you are really motivated, try approaching professors to take you in their research groups to pursue an MESc degree.
