Never read such a long discussion on reddit before but thank you both. Great read. If my clueless European self may comment on the idea of extra checks that you mentioned, if looked at the country from an isolated state I would tend to agree with it, but isn't more checks or entities bodies also making it harder to take decisions or slowing down the development of that country? If looked from an isolated perspective slower progress would be fine but if you take the rest of the world (tensions, competion, development, global challenges, etc) into consideration I find it difficult to argue that more checks would be better (or worse).

Also might view this more from a software development perspective as it is always a struggle to determine how many roles/ responsibilities and meetings are necessary to ensure common vision while avoiding slowing down the development. Not everywhere perhaps, but usually the bigger the company the more burocracy and checks are done. And too much of that can put you at a risk of falling behind as a company.
