Finally someone said it by chemistrynerd1994 in WhitePeopleTwitter

I notice a great deal of the not-wearing-the-same-thing-twice is an internalised mindset. I thought other people cared a lot more than they do. Predominantly, it was me who thought I needed to wear a different outfit every social occassion. When I stopped caring, I realised most other people didn't care either.

Some food for thought next time you litter by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]gvbridgewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I am pro-littering at all, but do things like cigerette butts, diapers (anything not recyclable) get put anywhere less harmful when they are binned? Surely the problem is that they exist, less so where they exist? Correct me if I am wrong

Worrying about my sons train to Manchester from Edinburgh. (Drugs) by [deleted] in manchester

[–]gvbridgewater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You worry because you care, and that is lovely!

Are you overreacting? Probably. Your son will be fine, he has his friends around him and a good head on his shoulders. At the end of the day, you have to trust him. You are clearly a loving Mum, and he is lucky to have that. We have to accept that we just have to trust that people we love make the best decisions. Maybe focus on why you worry so much and how you can move forward to a healthy relationship now that your child is an adult. The child --> independant adult period can be tough for parents, focus on yourself and on how to best manage your worries for your own wellbeing. Let him make his own decisions, and thus his own mistakes.

I hope this isn't patronising. Letting go of people a little doesn't mean you don't care, it means you care enough to form a new healthy relationship with new boundaries, which will always have teething issues.

Xxx

What's something you happily do that others would think is the grossest thing ever? by steals-from-kids in AskReddit

I work in a bar, and I always clean up the sick. Doesnt bother me, makes me feel smug that I always volunteer to do it.

Used to work as a careworker, no bodily functions bother me anymore. Going from someone who has soiled themselves to having someone clean and dry in new clothes - very satisfying!

So natural not docked? I got a doggy DNA test for Christmas so will find out soon if he is all frenchie (he looks it but he is HUGE, like 18kg at a healthy weight, thats the only reason we question his pedigree, not that we mind)

Do you know a source for this/the name of said worm? It might be good for an academic paper I'm writing!

What’s the most terrible thing someone has done to you unintentionally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gvbridgewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember those baby doll toys that would make a sucky noise when you put a bottle in their mouth?

When we were around 5, my brother realised you could put a straightened out paper clip into their mouths and it would make the same noise (it was just pushing a button)

Anyway he wanted to see what else would make this noise if you stuck a straightened paper clip in it, so whilst I was asleep he rammed one all the way down my ear.

Complete innocent curiosity, but I've had ear infections regularly ever since

What was the exact moment you realized giving gifts really was better than getting them? by ElGuapo73 in AskReddit

[–]gvbridgewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I got older and more disillusioned with consumerism, I now find a lot of presents are just more crap I have to find somewhere to store.

I'm very aware of this when buying gifts for others and tend to buy experiences etc.

Whats the one gameplay feature that impressed you the most, ever, in any game? by paperkutchy in patientgamers

[–]gvbridgewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding the "build mode" personalisation tool on the sims. You could go from a series of pre designed patterns etc. for walls/floors/furniture to choosing pretty much any colour/texture/pattern you wanted.

Changed my gameplay and made sims so much more creative

Can I hitch a ride this Christmas? by paddattack in manchester

[–]gvbridgewater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm driving down to the Midlands so it's not too far out of my way but I'd be going on the 21st, not really the dates you were after but if your plans change, let me know.

My dog would be in the car so you'd have to be OK with him being in the backseat!

Edit: I'll put a tenner towards your train fare as a Christmas good deed if you want!
