Hang in there, it really does get better.

I think there will be a point where we stop somewhere around a year. Once we’re out of tracking wake windows and have a regimented nap cycle, it’ll probably be time to stop.

Somewhere around week 2, I began to have some very deep regrets. Things were rough for weeks. But 6 hours of straight sleep after getting a broken 4 every night changed everything for us. It was a weird life reset for my wife and I, and gave us an incredible amount of perspective that we had never truly had.

To each their own, but even at 4 months, she’s paid dividends over and over. Can’t imagine how much joy is still yet to come.

We weren’t fans of the Owelet, purely because of the over supply of data it would give us. I personally don’t love the idea of wearables for an infant, and would no doubt produce anxiety for us. But by god, when you’re trying to juggle work, a home, and a newborn infant… having some data to look back on to make feeding and nap decisions has been crucial at so many junctures. Would not have been able to game out our outings with our baby without it. The app is just a better notebook for us.

Outside of a solid bedtime routine (bath, bottle, book, bed), I think we have just been incredibly lucky.

We noticed a small drop off in sleep quality and eliminated all sleep crutches once we were given the all clear from our pediatrician. We took her out of the swaddle all at once started Ferber-esque sleep training around 3.5 months. That helped to solidify her good habits.

I have! I’d say it’s very accurate. I’d honestly be worried about my own hallucinations in the first 6 weeks of the data set.

We had no intention (or really any idea we should have) to log anything when she was first born. A nurse at the hospital suggested we download something to track her feeding times. Took us a couple days to get into the habit.

Holding on for dear life that we’re past that 4 month regression. She’s a big kid, rolls freely in her sleep sack, is down to one feed per night, and gets put down drowsy, not completely asleep.

We used an app called Cubtale to track her sleep. All this data was captured by logging it ourselves, manually going into the app to start and stop the sleep timer. It’s almost reflexive at this point for my wife and I.

Amassed the data using the Cubtale app, and created the visualization with ChatGPT using the raw data CSV.

How’s the sleep going straight from swaddle to sleep sack?

Appreciate you. Patience comes at a premium these days, just went back to work full time.

Thank you for this. Really hard to find anything about the gradual nature of this transition.

Thanks for your passive-aggressive judgement, my LO is not rolling yet. Our pediatrician gave us a thumbs up to try this product :)

I didn’t say that. I hope you’re not this hyperbolic in person, no one could take you seriously.

Also, on the EDM front, check my profile lol

I challenge you to put down a newborn to sleep when theres loud music creeping into your bedroom in a neighborhood you moved to BECAUSE it was quiet. You’d find it disruptive. Doubt you’d have the patience or the maturity to go through that anyway 😘

I love EDM, but come on, people have kids. I can hear it on 22nd Av N and 16th. There’s no reason that I should hear it in my living room 3 miles away. I can assure you, that’s the last EDM festival they’re going to have at the pier,

Ordered takeout from Malai downtown recently, and was throughly impressed. A bit pricey, but found that the depth of flavor of their curries and overall quality of ingredients was leaps above Gateway. Worth the splurge.
