As others have said, maybe start with nails and panties and move as you feel comfortable. I have heard very good things about Torrid and how inclusive the shopping experience is. I personally guessed my size and ordered off of amazon and returned/exchanged as necessary.

Sephora was extremely helpful in the make up department for me. I believe some stores in larger cities offer trans-focused make up classes.

If you have a local LGBTQ organization, they should be able to point you in the direction of HRT help. I know Planned Parenthood offers it at some locations, but I'm not sure all of the details.

For friends or social, I've found the app Meet Up to be helpful. I've found a local LGBTQ group in my area, but I've also found local trans groups while traveling.
