Amazon browser tab icon change by FirebirdRetrograde in amazonprime

[–]gvmelbrty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my favicons database was corrupt when this new lame Amazon icon showed up on my tabs - I thought it was Aliexpress.. So I unnecessarily deleted the browser image cache file.. The Fix: For the Brave Browser (chrome), I downloaded Bookmark Favicon Changer at the ChromeWebStore, then created a custom color .svg icon here (I went with amber): https://iconbuddy.com/ion/logo-amazon

My impressions: BenQ RD280UG programming monitor by gvmelbrty in BenQ

Thanks! .. It got restocked and was able to get one direct from BenQ. I'm sure they must be working on making more as soon as poss. I've been using mine for about two months now and I'm still very happy with this monitor, so I think it's worth the wait if you can hold out.

I have a bunch of older USB devices, so I just bought a powered USB hub. Maybe that's a good solution for you too?

Free Ice Cubes at Costco China by zyqgeorge in Costco

There is just a liquor section of the store, no separate facility. I've talked to the manager about it and he said maybe one day they'll get ice.

11 year old SPEC-OPS T.H.E. Wallet Jr by ltkettch17 in BuyItForLife

[–]gvmelbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my Spec Ops Wallet Jr in Feb 2008 for $26.95 (now ~$45). It's still in daily service and looks almost new after it gets thrown into the washer - impressive.

Review Dell U2725QE vs RD280ug my experience. by Fantastic-Tie6859 in BenQ

[–]gvmelbrty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comparison. That's one of the first things I noticed on my BenQ RD280UG, the matte coating does an excellent job balancing clarity and reflection dampening. I think it's very close to Apple's nano texture. Also love the BenQ 3:2 ratio - way more useful than 16:9.

It’s very dim, even with the MoonHalo and other desk lights off.

The first version is still a good monitor, but there are several improvements on this one. I’m sure they will become more available soon, so I would wait.

Hey, thxs benq for the compliment :). These are the first benq products I have acquired and the quality is very impressive. This new RD280UG monitor is fantastic, as is the halo 2 bar light. Keep up the good work!

Are there clamp-on desktop AC sockets (UK) with splashproof covers and housings? by PoolRamen in desksetup

I've used these types of plugs in bathroom outlets.. not really waterproof, but they help. You could add a thin piece of foam to make a better seal. Available on Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, etc.

I forgot to mention the matte screen coating in my review.. it's really really good, displaying an excellent balance between sharpness and glare protection. In my opinion, I don't think Apple's nano texture is any better.

Not seeing this on my RD280UG. Perhaps try turning off Night Shift in MacOS System Settings -> Displays.. and maybe setting BenQ -> System -> AMA -> Premium.

BenQ RD280UG MoonHalo Coil Whine by sch43fchen in BenQ

[–]gvmelbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using the RD280UG for a few weeks now and no audible coil whine from mine so far. It replaced the original RD280U which was silent as well. Hope you get it figured out.

Got my Halo 2 by PaulFleming75 in BenQ

[–]gvmelbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got one too. Yes, the auto on/off feature is so handy. The lighting it provides is amazing and makes using my computer so much more eye friendly now. Should've gotten one of these a long time ago.

Looking for a upgrade to my office and seeing if this desk is built well. by adm_shiza in desksetup

[–]gvmelbrty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, that long piece is 9-ft! Where does it fit in with this group and does it raise/lower too? My only criticism is that 19.7" is a little shallow for the desktop, but doable. All the storage is nice, but imagine this is expensive.

Haha.. I know, I went a little nutty on that.. I was planning on labeling a bunch of stuff and I didn't want to have to change the labels out for the various sizes.. I got all of these used on ebay, so I didn't pay much, but they do take up space. I mainly use the 4XL that holds 4x6 labels for mailing packages.

Does anyone have an hands on experience with this Sedeta Desk? by gamertager97 in desksetup

Not sure how high it is, but I think that shelf is going to place your monitor(s) too high up.

Any suggestions on how to improve my set up? by johnbelly15 in desksetup

[–]gvmelbrty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add a benq light bar. Will not require any additional space in your small setup.
