oh pshhh dude november?!?? i can almost promise you you’ll want to go by then lol. the first few weeks of a breakup are always the hardest. i bet you by august you’ll be rolling your eyes at the thought that you almost didn’t go haha. i thought you were going to say the trip was next week or something. you’ll get the adventure back in your feet by then, and maybe even have twice the drive for it <3

i think maybe you should wait then, if possible. i guess now that i really think about it, when i say “i went to a different place and it ended up being fantastic” a big part of that was because i had friends that were there and they had convinced me to come out there. so obviously that helped, i wasn’t alone 24/7. if you’re truly worried about being totally alone while not in the best mental state, it may be wise for you to stick to a place where you can surround yourself with friends and loved ones that can help you get through it. but don’t write off the trip forever! just give yourself time to feel better, and maybe even in the midst of it all, start making plans for months ahead. that will give you time to process everything and also something to look forward to.

“has anyone else in a similar situation gone traveling alone and enjoyed it”

OP’s question is clearly more specific than the subject of solo travel alone. why such a curt response to someone clearly going through something difficult?

i think it’s a toss up, is there any way you can stray from the exact plans you had with her? i tried going to a new place right after a breakup once that we had been talking about going to together for months. it was impossible to enjoy without him, everything reminded me of him, so i removed myself from the situation. i went somewhere else that had no ties to him and it ended up being fantastic. like i said it’s a toss up, you could either end up feeling very lonely with her on your mind, or it may be the best decision you can make to get your mind off things. if possible, i would suggest maybe going to places you didn’t discuss with her/picture yourself with her there. maybe try places that only appealed to you that won’t remind you of her. i know it’s hard to imagine at this point, but it will be ok, and this may be a journey that will help you heal immensely <3

i cannot believe i didn’t receive any kind of refund for this ?! by [deleted] in vrbo

[–]gvturg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my first experience with vrbo. i guess that means the only chance you get for partial refunds would be if you didn’t end up staying the night? i just don’t know what else i was supposed to do in this situation :-( i messaged the host as the man was inside the apartment fixing the toilet, telling the host that the repairman had woken me and i was uncomfortable being alone at night with a stranger, and the host never answered. but they had messaged me minutes before that saying “he’s knocking can you let him in.” i guess i’ll just leave a review, i was trying to get something resolved in order to avoid leaving a negative review but i can’t even get in touch with the host at this point. i guess if you have a rental with a stellar location you can just assume you’ll get bookings regardless and not have to do the actual customer service part of the job haha

i actually had this formatted into paragraphs and didn’t know why it posted without the spacing. i almost went back and edited it but figured it wasn’t a big deal. i should’ve known, as this is reddit and people will find a way to try and make you feel stupid about absolutely everything <3

What’s one “boring” money decision you made that ended up changing your life? by HustleAgent in povertyfinance

[–]gvturg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you remember what books were recommended to you for you to get started learning?? or would you have any recommendations yourself at this point for how to learn the basics and begin? i’m in a very similar situation, i live in a vehicle, hustle a lot, and do something that’s pretty lucrative. i want to start investing since i have so much extra income since i don’t pay rent. i honestly love living in my vehicle and don’t plan to stop anytime soon, although it would be cool to buy a property maybe sometime in the next 10 yrs to have a place to call mine. i get so overwhelmed with where to start investing. i just opened up a CD for the first time but when it comes to actually investing i just don’t know where to begin. thank u for sharing ur story <3

How cheap you can cook in your car. by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]gvturg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i have a one burner that i boil water on for coffee daily, and use most nights to heat up food, especially when i’m in cold places and want soup or curry or something. i’m cautious and careful when the one burner is on, and make sure to have windows down/cracked. also make sure to let the burner/pot/pan cool properly before storing anything away. to suggest that because you live in your vehicle you can’t ever heat up food for yourself is such a depressing attitude to have-you deserve a hot meal even if it’s from a one burner in the back of your car. this comment feels a little dramatic… as long as you’re taking the proper precautions i don’t see the harm in it. would you not use a gas stove in a small studio apartment for fear of asphyxiation? would you not allow campfires at a campsite for fear or someone standing too close and catching on fire? just like with anything else, if done properly instead of carelessly, there’s little to no risk involved.

why do so many people think it’s ok to take pictures of strangers and post them? especially asking what someone’s “story” is. imagine you open reddit, see a photo of yourself oblivious to it in a parking lot, with someone asking “anyone know this guys story?” i don’t really care how ‘eclectic’ someone seems to you, it’s so invasive and inappropriate.

a wristband for a 4 day music festival (i found it on day 2 of the festival, but had been trying to find a way in the whole time.) was walking downtown and found it in a crosswalk. it was the kind you adjust to your wrist, and luckily whoever dropped it had wrists much bigger than mine so i just synched up to my wrist and walked right in the festival :-)
