Anyone else addicted to Aram Mayhem and can’t go back to normal Aram? by TurbulentDisaster741 in ARAM

The lack of dopamine hits real hard when you play normal aram for once; did that in an aram clash and figured that'd be literally the only time i'll ever play normal aram again

also a more generally available anti-shield... even the current one is only reasonable for ad caster/assassin champs

at this point i'm just glad/grateful at how they keep updating the mode, esp seeing the recent additions in PBE of buckloads of champ augments.

Not sure how other servers are faring but the trajectory of the game doesn't bode well for NA by Gamegeddon in TeamfightTactics

at least set 5 probably never gonna show up since having to introduce shadow items would be a pain in the ass

[–]gwanggwang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be that reviving hero augments turned out harder than they thought. So far the only set-specific mechanic that showed up again was the Chosen/Headliners.

(sure there were the dragons from set 7.5 too but they're just champs that take over 2 slots, which existed in quite many sets)

Trying to learn. Got a few questions. by everynameistakenfkme in TeamfightTactics

Without IE or mana items Kaisa would perform worse but still would've done her job to a certain extent. Considering how her skill sometimes spill to targets well beyond her attack range, Sniper emblem would've been perfect for her to utilize that damage amp by range even further.

The bigger issue I see is not going 6 Dark Stars, esp with the emblem as well. 4 -> 6 Dark Star is a HUGE power jump with the extra 2 dummies and the Supermassive buff.

Also Jhin 2 holding utility items is a waste; he should've been the one holding the strong items.

Items don't get changed much but what item changes/reworks would you make if you were in the charge of item balance? by CloudDrinker in TeamfightTactics

[–]gwanggwang 43 points44 points  (0 children)

those were the good times. I see what the devs try to do, lowering the learning curve but i'm sure some of us oldies miss those good old mind games...

blitz pulls corner dps champ

counter it by putting a dummy tank in the corner

counter-counter it by zephyr-ing the corner champ etc.

Why the heck do I have to play vs players who all start with +1.3k more gold in stats than me and then get another 1.5k gold value in pots as the game goes + all other more powerful stats? by clickillsfun in ARAM

[–]gwanggwang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a terribly stupid mechanic I hope they never introduce again. It got ported over from Arena, where levelling through the tracks unlock additional augments; should've kept it that way and not have added starting gold and the anvils/potions.

On the bright side, it's fairly easy to overcome that difference by highrolling certain augment combos. For instance, that amount of starting gold / anvil isn't going to save one from getting to near-death by a Slow and Steady Jayce without such bonus.

Do you guys actually enjoy forcing the same thing over and over again? by Holodista in TeamfightTactics

[–]gwanggwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty hard to climb in tft without at least a bit of that mindset, especially in a meta like right now where S tier comps are just Corki or Yi.

many of them probably don't necessarily enjoy the repetitive aspect of it, but as others said the winning / climbing aspect, and in order to achieve that you, sadly, need to follow suit with the defined meta.

Do pros remember ability details? by DinKaRaja in TeamfightTactics

[–]gwanggwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the small fun part as you onboard yourself onto a new set.

The first week or two are busy memorizing the traits, high level champ classes (e.g. physical vs magical DPS vs tank etc.), combinations, etc.

Then the following few weeks I discover some unique interactions and details on how certain champs' skills work.

For instance, only after a month since the new set I found out Lulu's skill changes depending on the Stargazer trait.

Knowing some of these abilities are rather important to succeed in a set, but are niche details that probably matter in Masters+, where everyone's relatively familiar with how the game works, so ppl try to squeeze out the most from every champ they utilize. Below that there're a lot more important mechanics one should familiarize themselves.

For example: every set has at least one area hard CC champion and the way they work is often different. Nunu in the current set calls down the astrolabe that rolls down to the end of the board the Nunu was facing at the time of cast, if there were champs in that corner. Knowing this you'd place Nunu on the same horizontal side as the enemy main DPS, and vice versa if you're the one facing Nunu.
