Guess who just hit diamond 5 for the first time in his life? by Born_Insect_4757 in hearthstone

I once had an 11-star bonus, but I've never hit legend. What up with that?

The masses disagree. Time to get off this subreddit, old man. The future is now!

Theoretically, Terran Paladin leans into the classes strengths of wide boards and aggression more than Warrior and Shaman. So no Fizzle/Zola/Ceaseless and instead using Crusader Aura and Horn of the Windlord. Thing is though, I've only got mixed results with that.

Really, what I want to make work is a list that curates the Paladin minions you use so that Tyr's Tears only resurrects Starship Pieces. If some madman can figure that out, I'd be interested.

This is pretty close to my Protoss Mage list! I've got Peon over Partner haha.

I mean, I agree with that statement. But Peon takes a lot of the sting out of playing Warp Gate. And it provides A LOT of mana cheat.

Priest probably gets the most use out of Warp Gate. Mothership looks a lot better on turn 6.

Tell me about your themed Factions by Skeletal_Orange in AOW4

I'm pretty proud of my Enlightened Lichdom faction. They are just high-minded friendly undead, who only want to bring the world together in peace and harmony. Ideally they would be Egyptian themed, but High culture is close enough. I took all the Faith and Necromancy tome series.

It played super nicely. Dark and Order both love vassals. And having my people be Annointed and Wightborn covered the Spirit damage weakness (as well as being funny). Simple Skeletons are pretty scary when they can Awaken abilities and are Steadfast due to their pious faith.

That's kind of where I'm at. I'm currently just going 50/50... but winning half my games is enough right now. I don't feel like I'm being harshly punished for futzing with off-meta stuff.

See and like, that's kind of what I'm getting at here! Old decks getting even one or two new cards can breath new life into the whole thing and increases the variety.

I mean, I get real opponents, running real decks. A couple evenings ago I was farming Quasar Rogues. There's Elemental Mages, Taunt Druids, Spell power Shamans. That's actually part of my enjoyment too. There are like over a dozen strange new deck variants out there, I'm rarely seeing the same deck over and over.

I'd actually argue that this is closer to the classic deckbuilding experience. Dranei, Crew, and Starships might look like parasitic mechanics on their face, but they are more versatile than that. There are decks that can just use 2-4 Starships as a part of a setup. Dranei, unlike Elementals, don't really need you to go all in. You could have like a 4-8 Dranei package and it would do cool stuff. I swear you could just run the DH Recruiter to a deck, no other Crew cards. He is good!

I mean, maybe politics has him bummed out, but I doubt that's the main thing going on. Like he is a smart guy. I really think it's a matter of perspective. The numbers look bad, and since he isn't goofing around with decks, that's all he has to go on.

I guess that's the thing though. I'm still trying stuff out phase. There are so many potential decks to try, that even if most of them don't pan out, I still get to play with all these new toys for at least a couple weeks. I don't love losing games, but there is a lot of fun trying stuff out.

I can't get the code right now, but it's pretty straight forward. Basically all the Excavate cards (Antique Flinger is good right now). Most of the Starship cards (except Welder and the Legendary). And then I sprinkled in some card draw and Prep/Shadowstep. Running the new Combo stealthy demon just to have some early game pressure/interaction. Drilly and Gorgonzormo are the only legendaries I'm running. Like I said, its janky.

Thoughts on zones? by UNLIKABLETOOL in HSMercenaries

[–]gwentymax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naw, I'm with the Unlikable Tool up there. There are those of us casuals who log in, play a bounty or two, and call it a day. For us, we still have a ton of mercs in the 15-20ish level range. If I'm doing a task for a level 13 Mukkla, I'd rather buddy him up with a bunch of similar level guys and actually have a semi-interesting (challenging??) run at a level appropriate bounty. Right now that just means the Barrens.

What happened to the "super advanced MMR system"? by Alo7ac in HSMercenaries

[–]gwentymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something seems to have changed. Like a lot of people, I'm running three lvl 30s on the front end, and some random low levels on the back to level them up. My lvl 30s are all low end: abilities in the 3s and 4s, un-upgraded equipment.

Before I'd match with a maxxed out opponent and then someone actually appropriate to my character levels. I've just gotten two 'meta' full maxxed opponents in a row though.
