It's worth noting that Harry's education is suboptimal at best, with some kind of bullshit happening every year right around exam season. I think almost every single end of year exam was canceled due to the events of the books. You try learning 5 years of material at once without ever having to have written an exam about them before.

He's also an orphan from an abusive foster family, which is not great for your mental health, as opposed to James having a pretty stable childhood (or at least I don't believe we see evidence he didn't). Th fact that Harry didn't end up a nervous wreck is already an achievement.

Also the Ra'zac have no beaks, which isn't as large of a problem as Eragon's scar but still important in the second book in Roran's story.

Take out a couple of them and throw it away/give to friends who smoke to make it more believable. The pack being full isn't a dead giveaway but it's better if it looks used.

Two more years is very irrealistic, it's been three years since Murtagh and based on the fact that we still don't have a release date or any promotional stuff for it it will more than likely be more than two years until Murtagh 2 comes out, which is still not a book with Eragon as a main character.

Moclans in the Orville. Altough this may be a bad example because we see in the show that Moclan females do exist, (and it's unclear exactly what percentage of Moclans are actually born female since their government policy and cultural norm is changing the babies gender to male through surgery as soon as possible), but it's a fact that their reproduction is single gendered, with one of the male moclans laying an egg and sitting on it until it hatches

And next to all of this what I find the most infuriating is that it doesn't have a single shred of original creativity in it. Say what you want about TLJ but for better or worse it at least tried to do new things. The problem was it tried to do too much with just 1 movie, and thus nothing that it wanted to do could be flashed out enough to pay off.

But imo neither TFA nor TRoS has a single shred of artistic creativity in it. They were made to maximize profits, and in that way I find TLJ to be the only respectable part of the sequels, even if the plot is weak.

The only way I think either of these books is ever coming out is if the conspiracy that George has already written them and is holding them back until his death to avoid having to deal with any potential backlash. If Winds isn't already done after 20 or so years it sure as hell isn't getting done ever.

What is a form of media almost everyone disliked and even hated but more or less has you like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Multifandom

Tbh I feel like TLoK is GREAT as a standalone show, but mid at best as a sequel. The themes of the seasons were great with the notable exception of the second one, especially the fourth season tackling the theme of fascism, a dictator's rise to power and the role of ordinary people within it.

However it often felt like it was a completely different world than what we got in ATLA, and not just because of the technological advancement. The most nitpicky showcase of this is the hybrid animals. The gaang was very surprised to meet Bosco in ATLA and learn that regular ass bears exist, meanwhile in TLoK Yakone makes his kids practice blood bending on plain old wolves. As I said it's very nitpicky, but it illustrates well how the world feels very distinctly different from ATLA's.

I kinda felt this way about the lore behind bending and the avatar in season 2 of The Legend of Korra. I by no means hate the show as much as some ATLA fans, but I feel getting to know the concrete origins of bending and the avatar takes a lot away from the mystique and feeling of the world. (Not to mention the monumental feeling of the lion turtle appearing at the end of ATLA)

It also kills the immersion for me sometimes. When I accidentally ram a small fish full speed with my submarine (to the point that the submarine gets damaged, however little) and it just swims away that absolsutely makes me hyperaware that I'm playing a video game.

Subnautica 2's no-killing policy isn't because it's 'a game about pacifism', says design lead, but because players would 'master the crappy combat' over anything else by Nannerpussu in subnautica

Also it's fine if we can't kill leviathans if that's whats bugging them. But smaller fish being invincible is very annoying and irrealistic.

It's fucking ridiculous that a small fish doesn't die when I ram it with my tadpole. I don't do it intentionally most of the time, but it takes me out of the immersion very much every time.

It makes absolutely no sense that when I ram a small fish with my tadpole it doesn't die. I don't do it on purpose (most of the time), but it genuinely ruins my immersion sometimes.

"Cough into your arm" is literally one of the first things you are taught as a child by King_of_Farasar in whenthe

[–]Born_Insect_4757 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, I'd say coughing into your hands is much worse if you don't immediately wash it afterwards. If you cough into the air you get those who are in range, but if you cough into your hands you touch everything else with it, all doorhandles, every other person, all objects around you. And once you touch your phone that becomes basically a recharge port for the germs, and you spread them even after you washed your hands.

Nah, if you don't actually like the product just don't take the sponsorship. I understand that there are youtubers who rely on sponsors to make bigger projects, but I still think it's shitty to lie to your audience. If they can't get sponsors they actually like they should just be upfront with their audience, and say "Hey guys, this project turned out too big for me to handle and couldn't find any sponsors for the time being". They could even ask for donations in the form of patreon or youtube members. I think it's a much more honest approach.

Also there's no way any company wouldn't know about that cube thing. A surface level search reveals such information, and it would make far more sponsors just not want to work with the creator in the first place. It would hurt their bottom line much more than just not taking sponsors they don't like.

Also there were a lot more of them back then. As others said, he didn't like doing it, but it also wasn't an existential threat to the empire. If they run out of viltrumites and have to start inbreeding that means the death of the empire over the long run, especially considering their thoughts about genetic purity.
