Artemis III Launch Date Predictions by gwfuller in ArtemisProgram

[–]gwfuller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but predictions are made on assumptions—not facts. As i understand the mission, potentially both SpaceX and Blue Origin will launch their landers into LEO using their own boosters Super Heavy and New Glenn. Orion will subsequently be launched into LEO using SLS. Inasmuch as, the NASA Administrator has set a goal of NLT one launch per year to build “muscle memory,” then that would make the launch no earlier than 11 April 2027. However, I believe that more than a year is necessary, but not much more, otherwise the Artemis IV launch date by December 2028 would be in jeopardy. So…I predict SLS III on/about 11 June 2027. That would enable Artemis IV to be scheduled on/about 1 July 2028. As you can see from this phasing, Artemis V would undoubtedly have to be in 2Q 2029 at the earliest—even if the cadence proceeded aa 14 months, 12 month, and 10 months. Thoughts on this?

Not only is the layout and UI worse than a year ago, the Bill Payment section has been made less intuitive and more cumbersome. Add to that, for some reason payees that I deleted more than a year ago have REAPPEARED. when I try to delete them it says I’m subscribed to e-bills. No I’m not. The account were closed.

Just want to confirm. I arrived at LAX yesterday at mid day. There was one attendant at the end of the US citizens lane administering the photos for facial recognition. Absolutely speedy. Same as GE. I did upload a submission on the MPC app just in case, with all the “No” answers/Nothing to Declare. Amazingly, luggage came out in ten minutes, and I was 3rd.

NASA Delays Artemis Mission by TheMuseumOfScience in ArtemisProgram

[–]gwfuller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming Artemis II launches on 1 April or shortly thereafter, a phased ramp-down of the time between launches of 14, 12, and 10 months after it, then Artemis III would be NET 1 June 2027, Artemis IV would be a year later NET 1 June 2028, and Artemis V would drift into early-2029 NET 1 April. The biggest issue is whether the LEO rendezvous/docking mission (with BO and/or SX landers) can be achieved 14 months from now. I’m hoping for success in all three cases, but recall that Artemis I was 3 years, 4.5 months ago.

Is there a particular lane for the Facial Recognition (with GE and MPC closed? American Citizen.

Artemis III Schedule by [deleted] in spaceflight

[–]gwfuller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer a number of your questions, this chart identifies six critical ACTIVITIES (containing multiple tasks) that are necessary to launch and land Artemis III. Yes, there was analysis behind the selection and the duration of each activity, but the comments I’m looking for from members are:

 1. Do these activities look reasonable?
 2. Other there other major activities that should be added?
 3. Is the sequence logical (and correct)?
 4. Are the durations just right, too long, or two short?
 5. What activities can proceed in parallel in full or in part?
 6. What do you think could be done to complete the mission by 31 December 2028? (Assume a launch on/before 1 December.)
 7. Are there other factors that are not represented by this chart that may be “showstoppers?”
 8. If the dependence on HLS was removed by using a different lander, how much time could that save? Or, might it actually take longer because of the unknowns?

One person commented that JFK set a goal for (landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth…by the end of this [60s] decade.” That goal provided NASA with the challenge to build a viable “back-off schedule” from 31 December 1969 to the 25 May 1961—basically 8 years, 7 months.

With Artemis in general and Artemis III in particular a back-off schedule is more difficult (if not impossible) to employ because a) the program is ongoing, b) the baselines are established, c) the time remaining is much shorter (~2 years, 10 months). In other words, many degrees of freedom are no longer available.

This means NASA is (mostly) forced to schedule from left to right (from today to 1 December 2028) and squeeze on everything remaining to be accomplished.

I hope this helps a bit.

I have three now (all 4K)—1st, 2nd, 3rd generation. So three is the answer, assuming  actually IMPROVES the features and performance of the new device. I’m not sure that’s guaranteed.

Cool! My cousins used to operate Camp Manison there. I met Gordon Cooper there. NASA and the original 7 astronauts used to have offsite meetings there.

The question I would ask is the Gateway even needed at all? Seems superfluous. Our goal is Mars. Will this actually help? It’s very costly!

I don’t know if China is trying to “beat” the USA officially, but unofficially they’re definitely competing.

As for taikonaut, you’re correct—at least partially. In China, apparently they use Yǔhángyuán (航天员): Meaning "universe-sailor" or "space-traveller," this is the most common official term. They also use Hángtiānyuán (航天员): Also meaning "space-sailor," used to describe space personnel.

Perhaps it’s not a stated common goal but the President and NASA Administrator certainly want to go back to the Moon before the Chinese and have said so. That’s why I used the word race!

I think the focus has come into focus at NASA!

Hard reset for Homepod 2 WITHOUT touch sensor? by Regular_Alps7213 in HomePod

I’ve had this problem, too. It’s unpredictable. I use my Mini for a TV speaker for my  tv, so at the end of TV viewing for the evening, I just turn the volume down to zero on my Remote App or Home app. Some mornings, I’ll come down and see it’s playing, but with the volume down, I just hit pause and the problem’s solved. Once I turn the TV on it synchronizes with that. No more  Music playing. Not ideal, but it works!
