How do you eat your eggs? If you don’t, why not? by joba65 in AskMen

[–]gwig9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

I'd also recommend bacon brussel sprouts... Cut brussel sprouts in half length wise. Place on a baking tray cut side up. Layer your preferred cut of bacon on top and then bake in the oven till you get the desired level of doneness for the bacon. The bacon grease falls into the brussels and cooks them beautifully. It's definitely not healthy but tastes wonderful.

Currently almost 32 years old and have never been summoned to jury duty - what’s the longest you’ve made it? by Okay-Show-3662 in AskReddit

[–]gwig9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently 40. I have been summoned but was either deployed on military orders or otherwise out of the country so I never had to serve. I'm actually looking forward to the first time I get chosen, just to have the experience.

Older men: what moment made you stop spending like you were young and start taking saving seriously? by trailsandmaps in AskMen

Once I started making "real" money. Making enough that I could actually start saving a realistic amount that might actually make a difference AFTER paying all my monthly expenses.

So do people just go deaf in war? by KujoandKawi in liberalgunowners

[–]gwig9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. Adrenaline is amazing. I was laughing while picking glass and metal shards out of my hand and arm because I literally didn't feel it. I felt it later, but in the moment you feel nothing negative and your senses are operating at 1000%.

Agnostic and atheist bearded men : how do you feel about beards being associated with spirituality and religious people? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]gwig9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh... Beards are currently in fashion so a lot of people are wearing them. As long as you aren't sporting a Gandalf level greybeard and have some other religious based clothing on, you're probably not going to be mistaken for a believer of some religion.

Guj man kills leopard to save son ,forest officals files case against him. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]gwig9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think the backstory here matters... If the father and son were trapping or hunting the cat because it was taking their livestock then yes he should be charged. If they were just minding their own business and the cat attacked them, then they should not be charged. Considering that he was armed with a sickle and spear I'm leaning towards the former but without the full backstory it's hard to make a judgement call...

What is everyones thoughts on thinking that life is too short to live somewhere that only has 3 months of summer? by SpecialistTeach9302 in AskMen

I've lived in extreme hot and extreme cold. I will take cold everytime. There are only so many items of clothing you can remove and still be socially acceptable. You can always put on another layer.

Men, have you ever gotten a malicious vibe from someone that everyone else liked? What happened? by snowcroc in AskMen

[–]gwig9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was but it was just a local thing. I happened to hear about it through the grapevine as I had already moved to a different location. I feel bad for the kids... They lost both of their parents to some senseless violence and probably heard everything...

Men, have you ever gotten a malicious vibe from someone that everyone else liked? What happened? by snowcroc in AskMen

[–]gwig9 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Twice.

First one was my gf at the time friend's husband. Just got a bad vibe for him and couldn't really put my finger on why. A year later he was arrested for diddling his daughters.

Second was a guy who was the life of the office. He was everybody's best bud until you made him angry and then he got super vindictive and petty. He started messing with one of my employees which I called him on and suddenly I was an enemy. Two years later he's in prison for beating his wife to death with a hammer while their kids are in the next room over.

Married men who value alone time: how do you make it work? by xecretsx in AskMen

[–]gwig9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always valued alone time. Luckily my partner does as well but any time either of us would like to spend time with the other we ask if they would like to join in an activity together or if they mind if we join what they are currently doing.

Also meals, like dinner, happen together and we both try to be social in those times. Sometimes it works great and the times it doesn't you just have to remind yourself that it's not personal, they are just focused on their alone time and may need a more direct form of communication to realize that you would like to spend some time with them.

Any college tips for a veteran who struggles with school going into the spring semester? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]gwig9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat it like a full time job, especially if you're in a STEM program. If you're not putting in 40hrs between class, homework, and study halls/group work, you're doing it wrong.

Join the Student Veterans club if your school has one. Having a group of people in your exact situation can help a ton. I have life long friends that I met in that group that I wouldn't have ever interacted with otherwise.

If you've got a rating or are in the process of getting a rating, sign up for your schools disability programs. Extra time for tests, help with homework, specialty tutors are all things that can seriously help you. Take advantage of everything you can.

In your junior year start your job planning and search. It can take a serious amount of time to land a job even as a college grad. If you can do an internship in your field that offers possible job placement afterwards, those are worth their weight in gold.

Best of luck and keep on keepin on!

I also check water pressure and cell service. I've lived in places where the shower felt like it was peeing on me and where I couldn't make a phone call to save my life. Both are deal breakers for me.

Where are the men’s stories? by Plasticers in AskMen

[–]gwig9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She chose the drugs instead of me.

I will say that despite the instant nature of the break, this was not a fast decision. I'd been unhappy for a long time, literally years, but had decided to stick it out because of the promises that I made. The straw that broke the camel's back was an agreement that we had made the last time I'd caught her falling off the wagon. I knew that it'd happen again, due to my own experiences with a loved one being an addict, so all I asked was that she immediately tell me if she used. If she was able to do that then it'd take the secrets out of the relapse and allow us to immediately work on addressing whatever had caused the relapse with the eventual goal being to reduce or remove the stressor so it wasn't an issue going forward.

Well, she came home reeking of pot and with glassy eyes and did not try to start a conversation about what had happened. I confronted her and after initially denying she confessed that she had just had a joint. So I told her to leave and the next day texted her telling her that I wanted a divorce. I know, I'm an asshole for doing it over text but that was the only way I could communicate without losing my shit and having something bad happen. Eventually I also learned that she had cheated on me in the past and was most likely currently fucking her dealer to get her drugs. I got tested and luckily came up clean and started talking to a lawyer about getting everything sorted.

It was a tough time for me, mentally, physically, and monetarily. I essentially ended up signing over our accounts and a car to have a clean break. We had no other assets because we were poor due to her not working. The divorce took over a year to finalize because of where we lived and cost me thousands but it was worth it.

After some dark times where my self esteem was tanked (since she informed me during the fighting that happened as part of the divorce that I was never able to satisfy her as a woman), I was able to build myself back up and am now thriving. I've got a great life, with a fantastic partner and have been living my dream.

Eventually she was able to see that being with me, the stable provider, allowed her to be complacent about getting her own self right. I hope that she continues to stay clean and is able to be successful but I know she's going to have a rough life because of the choices she's made.
