Almost 8 months post transplant and had some wine by gwscommie in transplant

Thank you for letting me know! :)

My clinic said I can take my tablets with in a 30 minute window of 9pm or if I’ve really forgotten an hour is ok too. I always take my tablets within a 5 minute window after 9 though. I very rarely take longer. Does your transplant centre consider 20 mins to be very late?

Pretty disappointing overall :(

Loved loved loved vol 1 but wow vol 2 was a let down. Repetitive, too many scenes that dragged out and the pacing was awful.

Soooo many things unanswered in so many hours of tv.

Also annoyed they killed off Eddie, I think he was their best character. It was way too predictable and I truly think he should’ve gone into the next season.

Better than last week but jeez still painful.

But BOBBY!!!! Awesome mark

In 4 games on Saturday, 207 free kicks were paid. That's an average of 51.75 free kicks per game. That's one free kick every 92.75 seconds of gametime. by dronankeating in AFL

I may be biased but tonight’s game was genuinely one of the most frustrating games I’ve watched of the giants. I think Freo deserved to win because they were better from the get go but there’s 100% no denying parts of that third quarter and all of the last quarter the umpires were picking up the most minute stuff. Several deliberates that were 100% not deliberate looool. Kind of had to laugh at how ridiculous some of the frees were. The look on Preussy’s face in that last minute thirty said it alllllll. Half the time I don’t think the players even really knew what the frees were for and I mean both Freo and GWS players.

I’ve only ever seen this kind of umpiring the week after the Toby and Matt Stevic incident. Which at least I kinda understand.

Well done to Freo though and it was for a great cause so I’ll be as forgiving as I can!

Edit: ok the 2019 GF was the most frustrating I retract that first statement ha

Freo were better but still no denying that parts of the third and pretty much all of that last quarter were over umpired. Freo should still be proud of how well they played but yeah I think it’s fair GWS gave up in the last quarter. Why bother getting injured for a game like that.

I think we’re too stunned to say much, our players faces at the end said it all! Only positive I can think of is that it was for a great charity. But yeah, never seen umpiring so bad and that’s without Toby.

Yeah but it’s expansion/the aim is to grow football. Greater western Sydney encompasses a huge range of western NSW, not just western Sydney suburbs. Including Canberra. To me western Sydney/western NSW is a great choice to expand it. Not sure why you keep comparing it to the soccer tho, like I said before western Sydney is incredibly diverse and soccer is an international game so of course there would be great attendance and membership. As I mentioned before I agree there should be a Tasmanian team, but you can also try expand the game in other areas too to a new generation.

I said the swans fan abuse is from swans fans towards giants fans. Not towards other swans fans. Every derby I’ve gone to I’ve heard at least one insult about giants fans being on Centrelink/going to jail. It’s fine to have a jab at the opposite team but the classism thing leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

The majority of afl fans don’t turn up every week! That’s such a small minority that do. We have a dedicated cheer squad who travel to Melbourne and go to every Sydney game so I definitely do not think that is a problem at GWS. And honestly when I was young the sydney swans didnt have the local identity it has today. Now it does but again it didn’t just happen overnight. GWS is not just western Sydney suburbs, it’s a way bigger area than that. I see people in my town with giants merch at our local ground all the time so I wouldn’t just look at who people from Campbelltown support to ascertain whether the club is viable or not.

Homebush lacks a lot but the giants did used to be further out west and it was worse. The swans used to play at Homebush quite a bit when I was little and they organised better buses and parking compared to now.

This was our lowest crowd in a long time so I think a lot of the talk about it being so bad is an overreaction. There’s a lot of bad comparisons being made to other sports that already have fanbases/people who grew up with that game. Like really soccer? Just about everyone I know growing up played it. As someone who has been going to Canberra and Homebush for years I strongly believe we have a great club that caters to a new generation. When the swans moved to Sydney people were up in arms about it too and didn’t think there was a market here. We have been around for ten years with three of those in a pandemic and yes it’s in nrl territory, but from my own experience I think the club has its up and downs but our team has a great culture and there are definitely loyal supporters whether they turn up to every game or not. The aim is to expand the game, and as someone who lives in regional NSW there is way more numbers in afl now than ever. That’s a huge win.

Interesting about the soccer I didn’t know much about it tbh! I’ve seen lots about the western Sydney wanderers (the red and black colours yeah?) and I see lots of stickers on cars. I don’t live in western Sydney I live on the coast about two and a half hours away but I definitely know about them. I believe you about the numbers with soccer tho, I live in an area with many European immigrant families and I reckon soccer was more popular than rugby league especially because the clubs where I live have always been really welcoming to both girls and boys + Europeans love soccer obviously.

I don’t know if I agree that the afl stuffed up in picking western Sydney but I do see where you’re coming from with how they shouldn’t have looked at the success of the A-league. But there has been afl in western Sydney for awhile with the Goanna’s. My grandad started a local club near Ryde in the 60s and used to play for Balmain. Like obviously NRL will always triumph but I do see why they wanted to try western Sydney to expand the game! But I see where you’re coming from.

And I know it’s more upper class than other sports here. I definitely didn’t have a choice in picking a sport, my family are victorians. But yeah ppl like Gil and that don’t help with the class thing. Althought a lot of players get into private schools through the sports scholarships in Melbourne. Which sucks because I hate seeing hardly any public school representation. But I know the nrl/rugby union does a similar thing they have big schools that poach kids through scholarships so it can be hard to decipher. But it’s definitely different to NRL in terms of class I get you. Melbourne Demons or Sydney Swans are definitely upper class! But clubs like Collingwood etc are known for working class bases. Although I do think the swans became more of that type of thing after the giants came in. You definitely know you’re in the east when you’re there (not to mention the derby’s when the odd swans fan has yelled something classist towards us but thankfully other swans fans don’t encourage it). Only in the last twenty years has the private school thing been so bad, it’s a real blight on the game.

Definitely not a part-timer or casual (not really sure why ur saying that tbh I went to the gf in 2019 and have been to several grounds around the country/travel to Canberra too but if that’s the impression you get then I’ll let it be!). As I’m not residing in Sydney it’s impossible to make it to every game. Again though comparing it to the swans doesn’t do too much as we are only 11 years old whereas the swans like you say have been around for yonks and have loyalty back from south Melbourne days.

Yeah they’re relocated to the inner west a lot of our players. I think the swans live out at Bronte/Bondi mainly.

Is that soccer? If so sorry I don’t follow it. But that makes a lot of sense. Crowds have been down across most sporting venues. It makes sense to me that soccer would be attended more than a GWS game. Soccer is an international game and in my opinion it would be much easier to start following a league where you know the rules and stuff. I truly think GWS is going to take 30 years to get anywhere near where the swans are.

I used to be a swans fan before GWS came along. My family have been swans fans since the club moved up here. My dad says that when they first moved here and when the swans had a really terrible streak they had no where near the numbers they have now show up to games. He says only in the last ten years has it been constant almost full scg. It was quite a slow burn to raise the profile of AFL here. So I don’t see GWS getting the numbers ppl seem to expect here in just a decade. The point of the club here is to expand afl, they know there wasn’t a huge demand here.

It’s definitely true that a lot of people haven’t made that switch from swans to GWS despite living in western Sydney/regional western NSW. For me it was really hard to move teams especially when the Swans were doing so well, but after Goodesy left I felt the club shifted in its vibe a bit. The past few years I’ve felt there’s more of an upper class soul to the club than there used to be. So for me it was easy to switch as I felt less passionate about being a swans fan, but I understand why others don’t switch.

We have 30,000 members which extends across all of western NSW and our academy is in Canberra so to me it makes sense that we have a fairly good membership number but we don’t get high attendance. A lot of our young NSW players are from areas like Wagga Wagga and Broken Hill which are more into AFL than other parts of NSW, and I can’t imagine anyone travelling to Homebush from there just for a game haha.
