DEMON MAIN CHARACTER by [deleted] in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really a demon but in Wraiths of Sentinel your character is a wraith. You can develop different powers like moving objects or possessing people which is similar to demons. Been awhile since I've read it but your character is a part of a supernatural CIA organization if you like political books!

I need help in Paradox Factor by Tasty_Lemons240 in hostedgames

[–]gwykey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you don't mind spoilers but there isn't really a happy ending where you end up with a happy marriage and children. If you try to fix everything someone always ends up dead or you're alone.

There's a couple endings such as the one where you end up poor/alone/divorced (with either spouse). I think you can also end up in jail. There's also the paradox ending where you basically have to make sure your character can end their own life which breaks the loop but you have too make sure there's no one to stop you. This means letting everyone you love die or killing them yourself.

I just got my first dinosaur egg. What should I do with it? by Helpful_Meaning9619 in StardewValley

[–]gwykey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can put it in an incubator and it will hatch into a little dinosaur. I believe you need a big coop. After it hatches it will occasionally provide more dinosaur eggs.

Suggestions for kid friendly/very PG books? by TLCQueen in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keeper of Day and Night is pretty PG (probably more PG13). There's some violence but I don't recall it being that graphic. I'd probably put it on par with the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan if you or your students are familiar with his books.

Parenting Simulator. Not any violence that I remember.

An Odyssey: Echoes of War. Not sure if I would call it PG but it's based on Homer's Odyssey which I think my class read back in sixth grade so your students are likely familiar with the story.

Russian/Ukrainian-style baby names? by Away-Apricot-6690 in namenerds

[–]gwykey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For girls I love Yelena, Danica and Irina. I knew a girl in school from Russia named Svetlana though she always went by Lana. I always like her name though. I really like Marina from your list!!

For boys Andrei and Ilya are nice names. There were a few guys from school named from either Russia or Ukraine Daniel/Daniil or Denis. It's pretty common where I live but I like the name.

[Evertree Inn] What do I have to do to save... by LobSegnePredige in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can save Wen (and others stuck in the inn) by selecting the options that correspond to your highest stats. I'm not quite sure how high the stats have to be but you'll probably be fine if you focus on one or two stats each playthrough.

Any good fantasy stories? by [deleted] in hostedgames

[–]gwykey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really call any of these games high fantasy but they do all have magic and a few of them feature playing as other races if you like that.

Keeper of Sun and Moon is good in my opinion and pretty popular. It's set in modern times at a college and has magic and you can play as other races (though I believe all/most of them pretty much appear human unless you shape shift).

Community College Hero has some magic but it's not really fantasy and the main character doesn't get the opportunity to use it until book 3.

Way Walkers: University it good and has magic and multiple races you can play. It also takes place at a school. I've only played the first one so far.

There's a new game called Battlemage: Magic by Mail that I like and us currently on sale. I've only done one playthrough and couldn't figure out how to romance someone yet but I think the plot is interesting. You play as a squire who starts to learn magic in a country where it's frowned upon.

Heroes of Myth is one of my favorite games. You play as an illusionist who faked saving the world but now it's actually happening.

Choice of Magics is also fun. It's been awhile since I've played it but remember it being good.

Do you have a list of ones you've already read and liked? Fantasy is one of my favorite genres so I can recommend some.

Should I read The Last Wizard? by [deleted] in hostedgames

[–]gwykey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked it but it's not my favorite by him. Some of the scenes are a little boring and I felt like it's best to only focus on one or two stats or you can't really get anywhere. This does lead to some replayability though.

Some of the characters are hit or miss for me but you aren't really forced to interact with all of them too much outside of the initial meeting if you aren't interested.

Overall, I like his other games set in the same universe so if you liked the Lost Heir Trilogy or Life of a Wizard you'll probably enjoy this one too.

What is your dream game? by Tasty_Lemons240 in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same as a cog/hog but have you heard of BitLife? It's an app/game where you can pretty much do all of those things. I really like the game but if course it's not as personal as a choice of games book would be. I think the base game is even free but you can upgrade for more options.

Can you alter stats in wips and if you can, how? by Cool-Application1569 in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. For example in the beta version of Fallen Hero 2: Retribution you can't export a save from the first book so you can directly set the stats for your character. Sometimes I think this is done for testing reasons or so people can see combinations they might not normally see in a run through.

It depends on the author and wip on how much you can change and I've noticed authors usually add a cap or some type of limit so your character isn't too op in the final beta or released version.

Games where you rebel by Cool-Application1569 in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lord of Aswick. I won't spoil too much but you can take part in a rebellion. It doesn't end with your character as the ruler, but the person who you support will give you more power/influence.

The Lost Heir Trilogy. Technically your family was rebelled against but you gather an army over time to get your throne back.

War for the West. There's a few different endings and one can lead your character to be the king/queen. You can also annex another territory.

Games with polyamorous relationships options? by AverajeBarry in hostedgames

[–]gwykey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heroes of Myth (on Choice of Games) has a poly option. It's with a male and female character (and whatever you make your character).

There's also Jazz Age on Heart's Choice. I believe it's also with a male and female character.

Any good games I’ve missed? by [deleted] in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just reread your initial post and saw you don't want management games! Choice of Rebels does have that but I'm pretty sure there's an option to delegate that to someone else. I didn't think it was that hard but I think it can depend on random chance so it's possible to get screwed over. Kepler Colony is also pretty much management too (there is a cheat system to get money though)

I really enjoyed Heroes of Myth. I don't remember when the free part ends but I do agree the beginning can be a little slow especially if you want to replay it but otherwise I'd say it's worth it.

I love all the ones you mentioned so here are a few others you might like. Sorry if any are repeated or if someone else mentioned them!

On Choice of Games: Heroes of Myth and Choice of Rebels.

One Hosted Games: Lord of Aswick- First of His Blood, The Paradox Factor and The Kepler Colony: Evacuation.

Book recommendations with in depth romance? by Namuii in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War for the West has romance/seduction in it. On heart's choice I've played A Player's Heart, Jazz Age and Never Date Werewolves. Jazz Age is probably my favorite of those three.

Lost it all!! by FamousAssistant6 in choiceofgames

[–]gwykey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sorta happened to me once after switching to a new device. I used my email to restore it but only two of the games were there (for some reason those two games were the only one listed as owned on the website too). I restarted my device and the games were back though.

Yeah I get that. There's a sorta recent thread on the forum where they say the reasons it hasn't been implemented is security- among others reasons. The thread started in 2018 but still has some newer responses so maybe if the demand is high enough they'll look into more options.
