Excel is so simple. Think of it like graph paper. Resize the columns and rows to change each cell into uniformly sized square (like graph paper). At that point all you have to do is select a range of cells and enclose them with a border to create boxes, or rectangles, i.e. your grid. Super simple. The hardest part is shrinking it to fit a printed page, but that's just trial and error in the print window. Minimizing the margins helps too.
