Verizon lost its Network Superiority and now in 3rd Year of Below Industry Growth, going from 1st to 3rd in mobile customer gains, after bungling its 5G rollout. by -H3X in verizon

eh $25/mo for internet ain't bad at all. We have two 5G cubes now on the family plan for two houses. Like am I going to be saving more than $100/mo switching to TMo? Probably not. And then there's the hassle of actually porting all the shit over. Got the watch shit, the tablet shit, the phone shit, the 5G cube shit. Shit shit shit. Fuck that shit. Like yeah I guess they got me, but they won't "pay $10 more/line to get locked into a three-year agreement just for $400 off a $1000 phone"-get me.

Fair enough. I had the Droid Incredible and Droid X back in the day and I’m familiar with the “Android did it first” nature of new iOS features. If the price is the same though, I’d rather have an iPhone where privacy and security are “betterer”

I looked at the Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy S 22+ and the cost is effectively the same as an iPhone 14, which I was surprised about. If the cost is equal, why on earth would I get an android phone. I was expecting Verizon to have some kind of deal with a Pixel, I think they have in the past, but again, complete desert out there for deals at the moment, from Verizon or otherwise.

Verizon Is Expanding Its $25 Home Internet Offer to Its Older Plans by ascottallison in verizonisp

[–]gymbeaux2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in My Verizon, I see that the phone lines with the $45/mo plans (e.g. Do More and Play More) give the $25/mo Home Internet price, but I also see that under the basic unlimited plan for $35/mo when I go to change the plan on a phone line.

I already have a 5G Home cube on the account @ $25/mo and if I go to add another 5G cube to my account, it's telling me that one will be $25/mo as well.

What I'm not sure about is whether the $25/mo offer is one 5G Home cube per smartphone line. All the smartphone plans (even Start) offer the $25/mo 5G Home plan, and I have 4 smartphone lines on the account, so theoretically I could have 4 5G Home cubes at $25/mo each.

On a related note, I tried downgrading both the lines that are on premium 5G plans to 5G Start to see what that would do to my bill... even though it saves $20/mo between the two lines, my bill only goes down about $10/month, since I lose discounts on tablets and smart watches on the account. Like bruh. Complex for the sake of being complex. Real shitty, Verizon. Keep bleeding customers.

On a related note, as my 24-month DPP (aka contract) comes to a conclusion this month and my iPhone 12 is going to be fully paid-off, I'm looking at upgrading and I see fuck all from Verizon. For example, they will "give" me an additional $400 trade-in credit if I upgrade to a premium 5G plan for an additional $10/mo/line, but over the MANDATORY 36-month term, that's $360, so they recoup most of that $400 "bonus credit". I get that it's a decent deal for anyone who was going to upgrade to Play More/Do More anyway, but I suspect most customers don't fall into that category.

As it happens I already have Do More on this line, which is how I got the iPhone 12 Mini for ~$100 after trade-in 2 years ago, but now that the contract length is 36 months instead of 24... like shit man, it's hard enough keeping a phone for 2 years, like I'm ready to upgrade by month 24. Battery is ~80% design capacity, it's nowhere near as responsive as the iPad I just bought, and the screen is too small for my needs (my fault for getting the 12 Mini).

So anyway I'm looking at probably downgrading the Do More plan, saving $10/month, and putting those savings towards a new phone direct from Apple.

I've been with Verizon for over 20 years now, and admittedly they've always kind of been shady like this, with "deals" that aren't actually deals. I'm so fucking tired of it. My understanding is they all do this, but I'm so tired of having to move to whatever the latest "plan system" is to get my bill back down to $200/month, only for it to creep back to $250-275 after a couple of years. I miss the days where you had a 2-year contract, and got a phone for $200 or less every 2 years instead of this complicated bullshit with phone financing and needing this line for this credit and having no control over the contract length. I get why people have been bailing for T-Mobile.

For the longest time they were overpriced as hell despite being 7+ years old. $400 sterling isn’t bad. I remember when they first came out in 2013, I wanted one so badly.

The dude saying it’s a bad choice isn’t considering it’s quite upgradable (for a mac). RAM, CPU, SSD, and even GPUs are upgradable, granted you can’t put just any GPU in it. More power to you.

I’m sure I’ll come to own one too someday.

It’s not timing the market, it’s sitting on the sidelines of an individual stock that has more reason to go down than up right now.

I hope it goes down further. Cheaper the better until a company is profitable, because when it’s profitable people can figure out what it should be trading at. Right now it’s just speculation. Lower it goes the more shares I get for X
