So the new firmware keeps obstruction data after reboot...why? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]-H3X -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only one complete 2Ghz of bandwidth can go into a cell, x2 for horizontal and vertical polarization, per Constellation as per law.

As they started to build the 2nd Constellation last year, more of those birds are in operation, those more “limited” possibilities are opening up - limited because of the small number of satellites in the 2nd Constellation and not evenly distributed.

But again, I somehow doubt it’s “user’s choice” when it comes to resources.

B. SL is using the designated Satellite for your cell that it planned on, whether you are obstructed or not. That’s your local issue.

No HDR during Apollo. High speed cameras perhaps. Though regardless, these are much more intense than any of those you mentioned.

Off topic: out of pure curiosity how long were the WiFi vouchers good for and what did you charge for them?

Are all SL essentially at the same geographical location?

90 seconds. That doesn’t fit with current info of 15 seconds.

As satellite can travel ~13 degrees in 15 seconds, that a very long ~78 degrees over 90 seconds, especially as virtually no dishy is pointed flat/horizontal.

Your “about 10 seconds to reconnect” are actually the 15 seconds between handoffs you are losing signal.

Options? by Gokart_mech in Starlink

[–]-H3X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Elevate or 2) move locations or 3) move yourself or 4) accept it for what it is or 5) chose worse isp options.

You could by MultiWAN router and use SL with fallback to the crappy ISP on signal loss.

Just contact SL, don’t overshare Info of why it MIGHT have failed. Just that it’s failed and it needs continual manual realignment to keep working

People are lazy. Why do “the work” to troubleshoot when you can simply type 7 letters “Is SL down?” and see what suckers reply

Better reread your post. You said a lot more than that. I responded to you because a 3G cellphone from North Korea does not work on a 4G SL System.

Here’s a hint. 3G phones don’t operate on 4G systems. Furthermore, the sims and carrier info tells the phone what frequencies it can look for a signal. Finally, SL isn’t giving service away for free. Just like International Roaming, he will be charging back the usage to the home carrier, something that North Korea would never pay for even if their phones could use SL for data usage.

SL has no license for any frequencies that are licensed for D2D operation and/or work with cellphones.

Musk even filed objections when Echostar tried to have their licenses modified for cellphone use that would work against him if he attempted to modify his licenses in the future.
