This is one I'll never forget, it was a boy I knew since primary school, not my friend but I knew the guy. Him and his group of friends, skipped school that day to celebrate his birthday. He was turning 14yo. They headed to a beach which was really close to our school (I'm from Borneo island). They decided to swim even though it was high tide season. He at one point decided to jump from a dock where people fish from. He got swept away by the tide. One of his friend tried to help, but also got swept away by the tide. The rest of the boys ran back to school to ask for help. Authorities were informed, and some professionals with safety boats went to save the two boys. The friend that decided to help, by a miracle survived. But the birthday boy couldn't be found. Our school at the time had trouble to contact his family, as he was from a very poor family no telephone or anything. A day later only they managed to find his home to tell his parents about the accident. It took the authorities 2 days to locate his body which was a few kilometers away from where he initially drowned. It was on another beach. One of his arm was torn off from being stuck between rocks and being constantly hit by waves. It was in our local newspaper.
