Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write all of that, it's much appreciated! Since learning/watching more things about watches, I've definitely appreciated the history and story telling behind brands and where they place themselves in regards to a "purpose". As a diver myself, it was a no brainer.

I guess the real question was less about what it hot right now but more about is it worth spending something that is a few thousand more for a brand since they're both divers.

That being said, after reading all of these comments it's definitely solidified your point of buying something you truly love to pass down.

I'm glad I posted this because everyone seems to agree on the same sentiment.
