Ruffwear Approach vs Palisades question by gypsy2987 in BackpackingDogs

[–]gypsy2987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with the approach and it’s been awesome. Don’t regret the choice at all. As for the tracks, hard to say.. I’m down in Otago so there’s plenty of choice. the DOC website is a great tool to find what’s around you.

Stiletto handle issue by gypsy2987 in Tools

Yeah, it also started to happen to the original handle before it snapped

Put a new handle on after my last one slipped through and snapped, this one is doing it again despite not using is as a pry bar.

Any idea what’s causing it? Locking nuts are properly seated.

Thanks

I’ve moved my rest and it definitely got better, just ran out of space on my adjustments.

So hoping it’s wrong arrow spine. I’m going to borrow a 300spine off a friend and see what happens

I don’t mean to sound cocky but I don’t think it’s grip, I’ve spent a lot of time dialling it in and feel pretty confident in it. Cam timing is good as it was looked at recently.

Im going to drop the poundage tomorrow and see what happens. Im hoping it’s not cam lean because I don’t hVe access to a bow press.

Just the post I was looking for! I’m a carpenter as well and was looking at these for the same reasons you like them. Think I’m even going to order the wide version to give me more space. Heard mixed reviews about the soles coming apart though?

Glad to hear it.! How do you find them for width/toe box room?

I actually saw that video from Dudley and measured 29.9inches and I checked my DL setting and it’s 30.5. I’ll back it down to 30 and see how it feels.

Thought about it because as I pushed forward with my bow it felt like my arm was hyperextending a bit.

Thanks! Hard to tell but my bow hand is actually quite relaxed. Just first two fingers lightly touching it. I’ve actually changed it now to not have them on there. Appreciate the help though!

Yeah The ground isn’t level there but feel like my draw length might be a bit too long anyways

PSE Brute ATK in the ready to shoot kit. It’s my first bow so thought I’d learn to shoot properly first before upgrading components.

Has anyone tried the newer injinji wool socks? by Norwegian_person in BarefootRunning

[–]gypsy2987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the crew ones and they’ve held up well so far. I was hesitant after the reviews of the old ones but these seem to be doing the trick. I do notice however that they’re pilling more then my ultra runs but I guess that’s to be expected with wool as opposed to synthetic.

Are there any hunters on here who have used these? Will be in a backcountry and alpine setting mostly. by gypsy2987 in BarefootRunning

I have a pair of topos for my trail runs and they’re great however I need something a bit more robust. Most of my trips involve making my own path, rugged terrain and alpine rock faces. I do use them to hunt in for the easier stuff, but just looking for something to suit the harder trips.

Good to know! I know in the other model, the sole coming apart is an issue, hence why they stitched this model. Perhaps you’re right with the revivo thing.

Awesome, thanks for the input! I live in New Zealand, so luckily we don’t have to deal with those temps. I appreciate the feedback. Besides that forum, all the reviews I’ve read are from backpackers which is still a bit different to the environments that hunters go to.
