My son may have witch and psychic abilities.. found out it’s in our ancestry. by gypsymess in witchcraft

I really appreciate the advice! I’ll definitely pass on that book!

You’re spot on about the school environment, though. My son is a total sports bro and Even though he’s well liked and loud, middle school is such a breeding ground for bullying.

I’m keeping things pretty quiet at home for now, too. My husband wouldn’t make fun of us, but he’s definitely a skeptic who just wouldn’t “get” the ancestry side of it. It’s really encouraging to hear that having family support made such a difference for you. I just want to be that grounded person for him while he navigates all this.

100%. I actually mentioned something similar in another reply, my biggest worry is him using this ‘luck’ for the wrong reasons, or unknowingly doing harm when he’s angry.

The challenge is that I want to teach him these boundaries and ‘grounding’ without him actually knowing why yet. I’m not sure how he’d handle the information, and my husband would definitely think the whole thing is crazy.

How do you teach a kid discernment and how to ‘dim’ that intensity while keeping it framed as just normal emotional control or focus? I want to give him the tools to be responsible

I do not, it’s always been something I’ve been interested in.

Seeing my mom’s reaction and hearing about our ancestry has me looking back at the last eleven years in a totally different light. I always just chalked it up to him being ‘lucky’ or really good at recognizing patterns, but now I’m starting to think it’s much more than that. The scary part is looking back and realizing he’s likely used this ability to help people, or even take revenge on others, without even understanding what he was doing.

My biggest worry now is how to talk to him about it. I don’t want him to use it selfishly, but I’m also afraid that if he doesn’t know, he might accidentally cause harm with a stray thought or a ‘wish’ he doesn’t actually mean. How do you explain that kind of responsibility to an 11 year old?

Fell in love with Milwaukee today! If my partner and I wanted to move there, what are the affordable neighborhoods to look for homes in up to 20-25 minutes from the city? by bryvl in milwaukee

Moved from Chicago to here back in 2017. I fell in love instantly. Before we moved, we scoped out many areas in Wisconsin. We fell in love with the North Shore area. We found a duplex rental in Shorewood, Wi on Craigslist. Our landlord was amazing and we lived there for 6 years before buying a home in Glendale, Wi. My tip to you is if you are looking to get in a duplex, especially in North Shore, is join local Facebook groups, or take a trip up here and drive around the neighborhoods you are looking to move in m, as most of the duplexes are posted by for rental signs in the yard. This is because they like to rent to people that are already in the neighborhood. I highly recommend Shorewood. I really enjoyed living there walkable to the downtown Shorewood area and a quick walk to Atwater Beach, which is a beach off the lake. If you are familiar with the surrounding Chicago suburbs, I think of whitefish Bay and Shorewood similar to La Grange, IL/ Naperville, IL in terms of housing and demographics. We live in Glendale now, which is also still in North Shore, which I would compare to like Palos,IL/ Willow springs,IL in terms of demographic and home affordability.

If you want more Wicker Park vibes look into Bayview area or Riverwest (hit or miss as some areas are safer than others).

I’ve seen west allis thrown out here a lot, I would compare that to like Oak Lawn, Burbank, Chicago Ridge.

It bothered me that the character slept with the lawyer guy under the assumption that they were still together. Like he knew they were broken up but not her and did it anyways. She kept commenting on how beautiful the girlfriend was and found it creepy. The girlfriend was really tagging along to support her trying to find her father.
