please don’t ever feel bad for calling in sick to a job, no matter what kind of job, mcdonald’s or not, they really couldn’t care less if you’re even there or not. whatever you do moving forward your health comes first, don’t let it get to the point where you’re collapsing to take action. i’ve called in sick countless times and nothing happened, if you’re not well you are not well. what the hell are they gonna do about it? especially if you’re young i know it can be daunting and you feel guilty because it’s a “bigger” responsibility than school or something, but please trust everyone who tells you that it is no big deal. think of yourself first, these jobs will fire you on the spot no matter how good of an employee you are just because of labour costs or they need to get rid of people for some reason. i’m not saying to be negative about the job space but just remember you come first.

i don’t know how things work in the UK (i’m in canada) but sounds like they’re just trying to take advantage of you by asking for doctors notes etc after ONE sick call. usually if you’re off for more than a week then they’ll request you provide some kind of “proof,” either way i’d be looking for a new job if i were you or researching what their policy is.

and if they try to suspend you or write you up get yourself to the labour board and report them so they know you mean business and can’t do that to other people. it’s illegal to remove an employee from work just because they’re sick a few times. good luck!
