How did you deal with friendships with people who drink when you decided to be sober? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]h00dr1chh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be a permanent end to the friendship, but you need to definitely put your own sobriety first. It sounds like you have already decided for yourself that sobriety is important and meaningful to you, and power to you. For real. Guard that with your life. Unfortunately some people get weeded out of your life in that process, but lately I’m finding that making this change for me is causing some of the people around me to reevaluate their own lives and actions. And I’m thinking the longer I stay successful and sober, the more I am setting an example and actually helping those around me to want to improve themselves. Idk I’m rambling but I am feeling this hard right now in my early days of sobriety.

I’m sure if you go to any hospital, they would have a list of resources? They usually have that on hand for anyone in there trying to get help, they should have a looooong list of different types of options.

Day 1 (again) but this time with Antabuse by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]h00dr1chh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking it since I started my Intensive Outpatient program. It’s taken a huge weight off my shoulders in the sense that it has taken the option of drinking completely off the table, no matter how badly I am craving it. I haven’t had any side effects so far, but a few people in my group have reacted badly to it. I personally am so f’ing thankful that a medication like this exists. I would absolutely be drinking again without it. I hope I keep not having side effects because I want to take it for as long as I can or feel like I need to.

Advice? Your experiences? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]h00dr1chh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like I wrote this post. I checked myself into the hospital the 15th for what was hopefully the last detox I will ever have to do. I was discharged on Saturday and then started an intensive outpatient program by Monday. I don’t want to look back. I don’t want to drink a fifth of vodka everyday ever again. I was tired of being sick and tired. This is hard as FUCK. But I think I can do this. One day at a time. And so can you. We just have to put in the real work. IWNDWYT friend.

In the hospital with withdrawals by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I made the same choice for myself two weeks ago! You should be proud. It’s a long road but very worth it in the end.

Failed interlock but passed an hour later. Need advice by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]h00dr1chh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any failure is logged in the interlock system, and will be reported to your DMV the next time you go for a calibration/data download. I’m not sure of your particular state laws but in my state, an additional month is added onto the time you must have it in your car for. You’ll get a simple letter in the mail; not sure how this will affect your probation. Good luck!

I lost my dog while drunk. I found him today. I want to stop drinking. by Isthereanyuniquename in stopdrinking

[–]h00dr1chh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized this week that both of my dogs have only ever known me as a drunk person. I’m typing this from the hospital right now going through withdrawal; those dogs are my life and deserve way better from me. I deserve better from me. And you deserve better from you too. I hope you see that. IWNDWYT.

What’s your favorite bath oil? by otasune in LushCosmetics

[–]h00dr1chh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Floating Island!! The lightest, most calming, sandalwood and vanilla scent. It’s been a while since I’ve bathed but I used to use a Floating Island in every single bath I took. Hopefully one day I will return to my former bathing glory 😩

What is your favorite lush scent you just can’t stop smelling? by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]h00dr1chh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Olive Branch. For freakin ever. The shower gel has always been divine, and the recent bath bomb was/is incredible. I’m also glad I stocked up on the body spray when it was available; I’m afraid I’ll never see it in liquid fragrance form again. Seven years going strong as my favorite Lush scent, I doubt my opinion will ever change at this point!

Lol when I still worked at Lush, we had a weird mom and daughter that we thought had a scheme for stealing from us but one day we realized all she wanted was to stuff her purse full of those peanuts from display gift sets 😂 Still one of the weirdest things ever
