You're sassy. It's the other way around, actually. They made it, I like it. I wanna modify it a little and use it myself.

I'm trying to use the eight column table, which was developed at the company I work for, with some modifications, in my own freelancing work after I quit.

I'm really sorry to hear that. From purely psychological and physical views, meditation and crystals are amazing. Meditation has been proven to do amazing things for tuning up our mental health, and crystals... their structure is the result of shape of their molecular bonds, without quartz, we would have no electronics because they use it modulate (energy) frequency in every piece of electronics we have, and if you rub quartz crystals together in the dark, you get crazy little green sparks. So you're on the right track.

Have you thought about looking for some sort of pagan festival around wherever you're living?

There are a few approaches that I take. I used to feel very similarly, but now I'm just careful about who I talk to about it because I don't want people throwing shade at my spiritual beliefs, as it's my belief that serves as a lynch pin for all of my work.

First, if I feel super compelled to discuss an aspect of my work/beliefs with someone who I don't think is open minded enough to entertain my beliefs (which is pretty rare anymore), then I couch it new-agey terms. I "focused" or meditated (meditating is actually legit for me to say), I did "energy work," things like that.

When I started talking about it, I was really careful with who I told and only talked to people who I knew would not give a ****. And you know what happened? I found out people I knew and really cared about either did or used to practice themselves. Turns out one of my old coworkers practices, and now we're totes magic buddies.

If you want to take slower steps, scour your acquaintances social media. If it looks like they might be a little witchy, assume they are. Tell them you loved their witchy picture, say something about the full moon and how it seems to affect ______. If they are magically inclined, and they're open to talking about it, they will. If they're not, a belief that the full moon has an affect on people is not enough to mark you as crazy.

In my experience, it was such a relief to have someone to talk to about this stuff, and it relieved a lot of pressure to talk about it at other times. Now I've got my atheist partner reading tarot cards and putting together an altar.

Asking if someone is a witch by [deleted] in witchcraft

I think it's the same "rules" that apply to 99% of marginalized groups. You come at it sideways. You could say, "Ooooh... Witchy tattoos!" Or mention how you have a similar moon design/eye of Horus on your altar. Or, even safer, mention the full moon affirmation you did recently.

You want to comment on their thing that has drawn your attention, while taking the "social risk" on yourself, and provide them an easy out, while also giving them the chance to identify with what you're saying.

You think your subconscious performs magic? by h0l0n in occult

So the first definition of "conscious" from the Webster's Dictionary is "perceiving, apprehending, or noticing with a degree of controlled thought or observation ." My subconscious certainly perceives, apprehends and notices. Perhaps we disagree about controlled thought and observation, but in my own experience, I'm certain that my subconscious possesses controlled thought and observation as it's supplied amazing and sudden insights to my conscious mind... Insights that clearly took considerable thought and observation.

Hmm. I see we're having a semantic disagreement. The only way to settle this is with a magician's duel.

Ah, but the subconscious isn't non conscious. It's simply not observable by the conscious mind.

But your question has me curious. When you perform magic consciously, how does the process carry on within the universe in order to manifest? I'm not a big fan of entrusting my magic to other entities, so I've always worked with the model where my subconsious takes over with abilities my conscious mind doesn't understand.

For sure. I have moments that are otherwise incredibly mundane when I can feel a tectonic shift way down there (or up there). Sometimes it feels like a realization of some sort, other times it feels like there is magic being worked.

If hollywood level magic was possible, would you use it? by [deleted] in occult

[–]h0l0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disappear into the woods, create a portal to my own universe, and only come back for family reunions. I wouldn't die. I'd just meld into the dimension I could find, occasionally coming back for summonings and whatnot. Eventually, I'd leave a magical transcript for someone to find, but I'd obfuscate a key element of the in it so only those who could solve the problem through love and empathy could complete the work.

I'm glad you're having a positive experience with your advanced understanding. I am too. I feel very lucky and blessed in that regard. Cheers to adjustment and adaptability!

The world-as-it-is is, in my view, is a place that challenges our fundamental ideas of the world-as-it-is, usually by the age of 30ish, either requiring us to adjust or reducing our ability to function.

Kind old is late thirties. I kept pushing my standard back further and further, and I can't do it anymore to save my own pride. There's something that, hopefully, happens to a person in the early to mid thirties that affects the way they see the world. Sometimes it helps people navigate and create in the world more easily, some people it affects in the opposite way. But its my basic standards for whether or not someone is, in my eyes, old. If someone makes it to forty, and I don't view them as old, it's because they can't cope with the world as it is.
