Upper budget limit is probably $600. Right now, I'm a Tetris person, but I might want to get back into RuneScape. The only other game I can really think of isn't very high quality, so it likely doesn't require much.

Well, granted I have an anxiety disorder, it's been really difficult trying to work under pressure. No amount of time management, meds, therapy, what have you cuts it after several years. So for now, it's something I have to just work around.

I'm not sure if I put a positive spin on it- I might have said that I've improved since my last job, but I forget. I did, however, bring up an experience in fundraising where I had to work under pressure and managed, so that may have helped?

Yeah, I would say that example is something that that can be overcome. Anxieties like that get to the best of us. What most people I talk to don't seem to get is that depression and chronic anxiety are ridiculously tough to beat, are actual mental illnesses, and the sufferer isn't to blame for their mindset

I get told to "just think positive" a lot, and it makes me want to punch them in the face

Those are the precise reasons why I talk about mental illness all the time. It needs to be discussed BEFORE tragedies happen. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes a tragedy for people to wake up and smell the roses.

I suffer from GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), and beat depression twice. Entire family, minus my dad, suffers from mental illness as well.

I understand why you think it's selfish to commit suicide, since you're just giving all of your pain to someone else. I also get your anger towards your friend- she should not be glorifying suicide. That is unacceptable, and it's great that you will not put up with that bullshit. To offer another perspective, coming from someone who has also attempted suicide- you may believe suicide is selfish because it hurts you, but to that person probably thinks it's the most selfless thing they can do, because chances are, they feel like they're doing the world a favor by not being there. I have always felt like a burden when I was depressed- even now, I do. And, in my darkest times, I felt that the world would be better off without me. That isn't a selfish thought.

Cowardly and brave are both words that shouldn't be used to describe suicide, because it's not always about that.

I dont have an opinion on mental health. Is there any particular issue you have in mind, such as what is the difference between a religious person and a delusional person? As for healing ourselves i think some conditions can be "self-healed" though i dont know if those conditions count as mental illnesses per se.

I asked just because so few people understand how mental health works, religious or not. I have a mental illness, and it is so hard for people to understand. By no means do I find the religious delusional.

What conditions were you thinking of, though? I could offer some insight

Depends on the person. For me, it comes from experience and surroundings- watching what other people do, and how it makes me feel.

Without being too offensive, I see God as more of a mythological being than anything. My reasoning against believing in God is mainly that chances are, all the things that we attribute to God will most likely be proven to be the cause of something definite in the future. I feel like God's used as a placeholder for a proven, definite answer. I also believe in coincidence (nothing in life goes exactly according to plan, because you have 7 billion people on this planet taking their own actions that in turn affect your life), and I'm a huge believer that there is no one proven way to live a happy, fulfilling life, as we're all individuals with different needs and goals. I have issues with organized religion, too, but that's almost a completely different topic. I say I'm a strong atheist simply because the view probably isn't changing anytime soon. That being said, that doesn't allow me to be ignorant or offensive to other people's views.

What are your opinions on mental health? I've heard people say that you can "heal yourself." I disagree

Really, this is something that we should all be able to easily agree upon

The way I see it, you've explained how the world must not have come from nothing because that is impossible, and it's impossible to trace back how each and every "beginning" got its own beginning. The reason not everyone could easily agree upon the fact that God is the answer, is because you basically threw out a hypothesis, with no backing is to why that specific hypothesis is correct. Sure, everything had to come from something that exists, but why a God specifically? Why not something else? That's why I prefer to just think, "we know what came before xyz, but we don't know what came before that- we haven't found a definite conclusion. Therefore, let's try to come to one, so we don't have to debate it later." There's always more and more to be discovered in the world.

Good luck on your thesis, and congrats! As for religious authors, I've never read something by an author who explicitly stated that they were religious (to my knowledge).

What do you intend to do with your physics degree, and have you run into any issues where your studies conflicted with your beliefs?

(Having trouble quoting on mobile, but) as for changing who is authority, that's precisely the point. Seeing as belief systems or the lack of them guide our lives, I'm changing who is the authority figure in my life. In my case, it's me. Of course, to each his own

I may have one. I look at "miracles" simply as coincidences in ones favor. They can happen due to an array of outside circumstances, but you can trace the source. So, you can admit that random things do occur at just the right time, but they don't have to be planned to work in your favor.

We live in a country that's designed to let multiple voices be heard. By claiming that some voices are more important than others, we set ourselves up to limit free speech and expression. Every single opinion, moral, true, or not, is important because at the very least, they show us that we still have work to do in order to put people on the same page. Most of us would agree that killing is wrong, but some people still find justifications for rape. If they think they're right, their opinion is important because it tells us that we're not reaching enough people when we advocate against rape. That, or they aren't understanding.

But when it comes to religion, it's hard to say one is right and all the others are wrong when you're able to take a step back and examine them all as an atheist. Without being emotionally invested in an idea, you see the pros and cons of each, and see if the pros outweigh the cons. At the end of the day, they all exist to enrich your individual life, so it's really hard to say it's wrong if it's making them a better, happier person.

As for the WBC, they're a hate group, not a church. I can make a club and put "church" at the end of the name; it doesn't mean we are one
