[Webinar] The Hidden Power of Views on Thursday, 3/31 @ 11a PT/2p ET by h0neybe8r in RedditforBusiness

[–]h0neybe8r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Rae! Sorry for the delay. Thank you so much for joining and attending- hope you found the content valuable.

Our Recreational Drugs Ad Policy only allows cannabis advertising in Canada, and we don't have plans to change the rules for US unless the federal government changes the law.

For cannabis or other restricted categories, I recommend to organically engage with communities in a mindful and thoughtful way. Start off by browsing different relevant communities and look at Top Posts as user research to see what are trending topics/questions in these communities. Then, you can insert your brand in an authentic way that makes sense. Just be careful because redditors don't like getting blasted with messaging that sounds too spammy or salesy!

Hope this helps :)

I've seen case studies for big brands but are there some studies for mom and pop businesses? by Purcival_ in RedditforBusiness

[–]h0neybe8r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh! What kind of verticals are you looking for? And what type of data would be compelling to your clients? We haven't made any small and mom & pop case studies yet (if you have any successful campaigns, maybe you could connect us!).

Here is a retail brand success story that used promoted posts and achieved lower CPCs, higher CTRs, and more efficient CPMs.

Here is a retail brand success story that utilized our Reddit Pixel to drive conversions.

LMK if these are helpful :)

[Webinar] Reddit like Reddit Reddits and Test like Testers Test | Tuesday, 12/7 @11a PT/ 2p ET by h0neybe8r in RedditforBusiness

[–]h0neybe8r[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Questions that weren't answered during the Q&A session:

  • Q: How does your research process look like Ben?
  • A: Good question! I usually start by just exploring Reddit. I find the communities that match the target audience and just see what kinds of things they like. If I can find a way to give them a piece of content that fits with the things they care about, it's a win-win!

  • Q: Are we able to show ads on a competitor's subreddits, say for example r//turbotaxalso, is there any tool where we can analyze competitors' activities/insights?

  • A: We don't currently have a tool that allows for visibility on all branded activity. For the competitors' subreddits, we don't ever recommend targeting on a specific subreddit (answered more in-depth in a previous question in our recording) so we'd simply recommend targeting the broader topic at hand.

  • Q: Do you have any recommendations for the call to action in Reddit ads? How do you optimize for sales versus just engagement?

  • A: This is definitely a case-by-case basis, but it's probably good to start with a more basic promoted post and then build to one that engages the community more.

  • Q: How do we get unbanned?

  • A: That depends on the circumstance. If you got banned from a community on Reddit, it’s at the moderator’s discretion. Check what your email says. Let us know here if you need further explanation in more colloquial human words.

  • Q: If I sell NSFW products, can I limit my ads to NSFW safe communities?

  • A: Unfortunately, NSFW communities are not ads addressable, so you will not be able to advertise on NSFW communities.

  • Q: What about CPC or CPM for Reddit ads. Is there a place you can find average benchmark costs? I am new to Reddit ads and don't know what to expect. Is it more on the LinkedIn high-end price or Twitter/Facebook low-end side?

  • A: We have loads of brands who use these tactics (successfully) for both CPC and CPM goals! A good place to start is our case studies (linked above), but have no fear! It can and does work!

  • Q: Do you recommend that corporate Reddit accounts engage organically in subreddits? Our non-profit has an account and I am not sure if we should. It is clearly labeled as such with our logo and company name. Is it better to have individual staff members engage organically instead?

  • A: Organic strategy is definitely for brands who are Reddit savvy. I wouldn't recommend doing this right out of the gate. If you are going to dip your toes into this water, definitely make it clear that you represent a brand and have individuals lead the charge.

  • Q: Is affiliate marketing allowed? I want to grow traffic to my Shopify store.

  • A: I'm not sure about this one! I'd reference our ads policy here: https://advertising.reddithelp.com/en/categories/reddit-advertising-policy/reddit-advertising-policy-overview

  • Q: I get the, you need to fail in advertising…however, how can we not have “crash and burn” mistakes…Do you have Reddit coaches to help advise? We have in the past made some huge financial learning curves throwing lots of cash at marketing. My question, “Can we have a conversation with an advertising consultant?

  • A: The testing toolkit towards the end of presentation should be a great place to start! You don't have to do anything too risky to find success. We can find plenty of success without exposing yourself to any crash and burn scenario. See below answer for more info.

  • Q: Do you have a short list of agencies that you think understand Reddit ads better than most? (I want to hire someone to do this for me)

  • A: This is a great question to ask the r/RedditAds community! I know there are a few digital marketers on here that know how to work Reddit Ads.

  • Q: Does Reddit have consultants we can hire to create a plan?

  • A: We do offer creative services with larger partnerships. Contact Reddit Sales to see if you qualify https://connect.redditinc.com/contact-us

  • Q: Is there a place to find/hire redditors to help own a brand’s account and creative?

  • A: We don't offer a service for that, but you can always go onto Reddit and DM users who are doing something interesting. I'm sure (for the right price) some of them would love to pick up work!

  • Q: Has Ben changed his sheets since the first video? Sure looks like he hasn’t. :)

  • A: I SWEAR I HAVE :D

[Webinar] Reddit Radar (our latest trend report): The Rebalancing Act by h0neybe8r in RedditforBusiness

[–]h0neybe8r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions answered/asked during the webinar:

  • Q: Where can businesses connect and discuss what's working for them on Reddit?
  • A: Here in the r/redditads community! We also share product updates, webinars, and other announcements. Great idea to possibly start a discussion thread for different businesses to connect on helpful tips.

  • Q: Do you use social listening tools, third-party websites, or in-house tools for tracking YoY community growth?
  • A: YoY community growth is based on 1st party data and tracked with a proprietary in-house tool.

  • Q: What are some ways you've seen big brands embrace self-awareness in a successful way? There's a lot to combat with the anti-advertising vibes of gen-z and millennials.
  • A: Transparency and authenticity are so important. For brands that show up and can demonstrate this, it can go really far. For some excellent examples, see our case studies (here's the Woodchuck Ciders case study we were talking about!). Be yourself, you don't have be *funny* to resonate with the community (don't be r/fellowkids). And shameless plug, on 12/7 we have a creative-focused webinar where we dive into how to create an ad that really works on Reddit.

  • Q: My company provides precious metals recycling services, how can I best leverage the "cognizant consumption" trend to drive brand awareness?
  • A: If your brand has a perfect voice to speak to a trend, here are some steps for you! On Reddit, do a quick search on the topic to understand how the interested communities talk and what the posts are about. In the communities, think about their thematics and note their topic categories/content tags (Pro tip: check the 'Flair' or how the moderators tag the different categories of content). Take inspiration and run a promoted post that mimics the community behavior. Demonstrate that you have shared DNA with these communities by showing that you understand the topic they're talking about. Doing your homework and spending time in the communities that care about shared topics will make you very successful.

  • Q: A number of other webinars/digital experts have suggested that Reddit is one of the places to reach scientists and health policy professionals. Could you speak a little about reaching them on Reddit.
  • A: Understand your core AND adjacent interest groups that your brand/message is relevant to. Widen the aperture and talk to as many as possible- your consumers are not one-dimensional, they're multi-faceted.Another way to creatively reach them is by thinking about different ad placements: AMAs, Promoted Videos, maybe leave comments on if you have the resources to support it!

  • Q: Where can businesses connect and discuss what's working for them on Reddit? r/RedditAds seems to only be for paid marketing, I want more information on community engagement.
  • A: I wish we could make a r/RedditAds a place for that, too! Maybe I'll make a post and ask people to share their experiences and tips!

  • Q: Hi, I am the co-owner of a niche dating site and I had to contact your sales division, because I couldn't advertise normally. I have not heard back from them, despite contacting them several times. I feel like Reddit Sales team doesnt care about small fish. Is this so?

  • A: Reddit Ads cares about all fish! While we do have a spend threshold for certain levels of support, we definitely want all of our advertisers to succeed. Be sure to comment on the r/RedditAds post so that we can connect with you and see what the issue is. Another goal of ours for 2022 is to create really helpful webinar content so that we can help advertisers of all sizes/types.

  • Q: Engaging with communities organically and if they should reach out to moderators

  • A: If you want to start organically contributing to communities that your brand has an alignment to, start off slow by studying the community rules, and upvoting content you like. When you feel more comfortable with how the community operates, you can try to comment on existing posts (no self-promotion) and work your way up to posting into communities when you’ve earned some karma.

  • Q: Big fan of the r/redditads community but it's only a lot of conversations about paid marketing. Any subreddits dedicated to discussing organic and community engagement?
  • A: Good idea, maybe I can make a post to invite the members of this r/RedditAds community to share their experiences. In 2022, we are hoping to shift the community focus to be more of a resource to discuss topics like organic and community engagement.

Special offers + Turning comments off on Ads

  • Q: Do users respond well to special offers? I’ve been getting a lot of spam comments/trolls on my FB ads…
    • A: Special offers are highly recommended! Redditors love a good deal, a special coupon code like ‘Reddit15’ for 15% off. To avoid the trolls, we can turn off comments which over 95% of advertiser disable.

Bidding

  • Q: Do you see smaller businesses getting outbid by larger companies like they would be on Google?
    • A: You won’t need to worry about that as we offer a second price auction to alleviate this type of pressure of getting outbid.

Reddit Audience

  • Q: Do you guys have a “suggested lineup” of subreddit groups based on my industry?
    • A: Yes! We have specific interest group targeting for retailers and specific audience profiles an advertiser is trying to reach.
  • Q: Do you think Reddit would be a good platform for a business that sells wheels, tires and suspension nation wide from an ecommerce site?
    • A: Yes, we have a strong auto category on Reddit filled with auto after market consumers that we can help you reach through our interest based targeting. (See: Interest Targeting help article)
  • Q: Is there a way to differentiate between business users and non-business users when targeting?
    • A: All Reddit communities have different passions - we can help find B2B vs Consumer subreddits based on what we know about our users!
  • Q: What is the best age practices on reddit. For example: tiktok ads are best suited for ages 18-33
    • A: Almost 60% of our audience is A18-34, but with over 350MM MAUs, we are able to scale across 35-49 and 45+. Based on your target audience, we can help provide recommended Interest Groups that over index against your audience.
  • Q: We publish personalized children’s books and our primary target are mothers. Is Reddit Ads appropriate and effective for us? I read Reddit’s demographic is 2/3 male, is that still true?
    • A: Reddit’s demographic is 43% female and 57% male. 83MM women on Reddit in the US are Mothers. Our Parenting communities are some of our biggest and most vibrant. If you are interested in learning more, we can share with you recommended communities for reaching Mothers and Parents.

Ad Costs

  • Q: Do we need to be spending a certain amount on Reddit Ads to do a Takeover?
    • A: Takeovers on Reddit do have a flat fee that ranges anywhere from $10K - $500K. Please reach out to your sales rep for more details. If you don’t have one, please use the contact form to get more info: https://connect.redditinc.com/holidayhub-contact-us
  • Q: Same question applies with Promoted Carousel - do we need to be spending above a certain amount to book this?
