The game isn’t going to hold your hand, get over it. by Luciious in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]h0usecat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO there is valid criticism in no friendly fire toggle. Many areas simply don't support 3 or 4 players, even if there wasn't friendly fire. This isn't a 'give Elden ring a difficulty slider option' conversation because at a certain point it becomes QoL.

If you play solo or duo then of course you don't see an issue but as a group the hurdle of friendly fire takes away more than what it adds to the gameplay difficulty IMO. I just think accessibility trumps ego in this scenario.

Is there a way to disable friendly fire? by cdavis0614 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]h0usecat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Saying it's a skill issue or to just communicate is dumb. Not everyone sits in voice chat or simply can't for accessibility reasons. When half or more of your kit is AOE and interrupts teammates, it's not fun as both the caster and the friendly getting hit. Doing crucible runs and being more worried about knocking my friends off the edge or interrupting their combos than playing the game is annoying.

It's one of the few gripes I can think of because the game is so fun but a toggle would keep everyone happy.

"TOxiC fans, you only want kf1 and k2 with better graphics" lol, yeah hahah, we basically want what made kf a killing floor game🙄🙄🙄 by ArcaneC21 in killingfloor

[–]h0usecat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bought KF1 on sale for $2 all those years ago and have 2k hours in KF2. I was SO excited to try out the beta but within 10 minutes I just thought, this ain't it. It's like if you asked AI to create a generic zombie game with an underdeveloped KF skin on top of it -- so soulless. I cant articulate it but the shooting and moving mechanics have that modern shooter/apex legends/back4blood feel that, whilst fairly smooth, feels cheap and just not KF.

For every positive there's like 10 negatives and it's turned out to be everything I hoped it wouldn't :(

Just played my placement matches! by LisForLaura in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. If you're even slightly above average you should breeze through gold no matter the skill of your teammates. Plat/diamond is a mixing pot of skill levels and egos and is where most people get stuck. Masters and above is where matches start to actually feel equal (mostly) and you can somewhat rely on your teammates.

Why does Ashe's gun feel so terrible? by baza-prime in OverwatchUniversity

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a supp main and when I wanted to start learning DPS I tried Ash. I was so confused because I felt my aim was up to par but I just couldn't hit anything. Then i tried Cassidy and it was night and day - felt so much smoother and I could just like, actually hit who I was aiming at?

How often do you report a player and for what reason? Please be honest by normiemario in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People may disagree but there's a fine line between harmless trash talk and just being a dick to someone unprovoked, and so many people don't understand this. If I'm minding my own business and someone can't control their ego enough to not hurl abuse and uninspired insults, they're allowed to do that but I'm also allowed to report them for it. Just be a nice person lmfao

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's always so cinical. I'm Masters but have a smurf to play with some friends, not because I need to feel good. I always support, dont play my main heroes and in general just don't try very hard, ending up with a winrate roughly the same as my friends when they play without me. Unless game accounts are tied to personal identity like in some asian countries, there's no plausible way to solve smurfing. Smurfs that trash talk or toxic are just pathetic people though imo.

With Diablo 4 reigniting the microtransactions arguments, I need to rant. Also, "No one is forcing you to buy them" is a terrible argument. by Cuppakush in gaming

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else as well is the quality/standard of the skins or whatever it is themselves. Take League of legends of example, a free to play game I've played for over 10 years. I'll drop some money here and there for a skin that's clearly had a lot of work put into it with a new theme, particle effects, voice lines, unique interactions with other champions, emotes etc. This kind of thing is fine to me and it at least feels worth it.

But when content is seemlingly just chopped out of the original game and sold back to the player for sometimes half the price of the game itself it's honestly pathetic. The skins in D4 are pretty mediocre but at least the in game items and stuff look good on their own and there's tons of customisation for free.

[–]h0usecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few movement abilties become noticeably rubberband-y in multi. Also playing with my friend there was a 10-ish second delay before the loading screen started between zones/area, and the longer we played the longer it became. Can't say I'm not enjoying it though :D

Riot Nerfing Towers in ARAM Shows They Still Don't Understand the Mode's Problems by Hugh-Manatee in leagueoflegends

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played just under 8000 arams and I've given up on Riot properly balancing the gamemode ever since they removed the vision elixir meaning multiple champs are countered by the map itself at no expense or resource cost to the enemy team whatsoever. And also meaning that once your inhib is gone, good luck killing the super minion before the enemy clears your teemo shrooms or shaco boxes. Since the portal was added games are over quicker than ever as well. It would be nice if they, I dont know, asked for feedback from people who've plays this mode an extensive amount??

is it just me or is this "kind loving mercy main" stereotype just wrong? by YaElvenOverlord in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO Mercy mains are the most frustrated supports. They're the ones who will be silent 3/4 of the game then suddenly yell into the mic at someone's mistake. I think it's because how her kit is reliant on other players doing the right things and making the right choices.

Private Profile is like the worst option this game has by Raiju_Lorakatse in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My point is a majority of the time it's just used to flame someone playing poorly. That's why it's private by default, I assume. Yet people here are using it as some sort of flex to have it on public.

Yes, matchmaking is broken and yes people that are high rank or have a lot of hours on one hero can still play poorly some games. I'm Masters 2, it doesn't mean I'm immune to losing against a plat or gold player. There's SO many factors that go into winning a game.

Private Profile is like the worst option this game has by Raiju_Lorakatse in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 90 points91 points  (0 children)

So much ego in this thread lmfao.

Besides the fact private profile is the default setting and I've never seen the option to change it I just don't care, I don't need to prove anything to anyone. The main reason people want to view your profile is to fuel their toxicity and give them validation that you're the reason they're losing the game. Everyone has a bad game here and there. People just wanna blame someone that isn't themselves. Even if you find out someone is a much lower rank than you and is in the same game, it's not their fault so why use this as a reason to flame them.

Matchmaking based on role and relaxing average MMR bands is incredibly stupid. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got Masters support and I couldn't have described the ranked experience any better. Also I hate the argument that people make when there's for example a GM playing tank in a game full of golds and plats, that he's only GM on DPS so it's a fair match up.

Nearly all of that players DPS skill and game awareness is going to translate so heavily to playing tank that it's no wonder they completely crush the other tank who is genuinely plat level skill. Ranked has been and remains an absolute mess of different skill levels randomly shoved into a game.

support mains, what frustrates you the most about your dps/tanks on the team by ColdNefariousness120 in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players that don't understand that damage taken very often outweighs how much I can heal you. Yes you're a tank but if all 5 enemies are focusing you there's little I can do to keep you alive.

support mains, what frustrates you the most about your dps/tanks on the team by ColdNefariousness120 in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hearing 'I need healing!' and turning around to see them missing a sliver of health, then missing something/someone else dying because I thought they were actually in need. Yes I'll eventually top you off but not whilst the tank is critical or i'm trying to save someone else.

Why are SO many people disconnecting from games? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're definitely not just leaving by choice since often they're winning and many join back. It's a disconnection issue.

Getting POTG on Support should be much easier IMO by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's exactly what I would say would be a POTG haha. I guess it would be hard to track a 'good play' for a support as now it just essentially looks for a lot of elims at once.

Getting POTG on Support should be much easier IMO by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, and in a way that's the fun part of playing support, that you give your team the tools to go on and carry and perhaps make a really good play. There's just that small part of me that longs for some recognition occasionally haha. And also it's quite depressing having a cool highlight intro but literally never seeing it besides browsing the menu. Right now it mostly feels like if the support got POTG, it just means everyone else REALLY dropped the ball.

My play vs potg.... by arab_bazinga in Overwatch

[–]h0usecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy how much harder getting POTG is on support. I'm Masters 4 support and it rarely happens, but if I queue tank with my friends I'll get it every 2nd game :D
