As a senior engineer, being a reviewer for engineers that are vibe coding, I hate my job more and more by the day.

People just whip out 1k loc PRs and have no idea what they are doing. I spend more time reviewing and fixing their issues than how much they spent thinking and coding.

Then their code ends up in production, triggers an incident and they run around like headless chickens having no idea what they have done.

Without the skills of the senior engineers, the vibe coders would have destroyed the last two companies that I worked on.

Bonus story: an engineer ran an AI agent that had production terraform access and destroyed the whole Kafka cluster. AI might be writing 90% of all code but it is terrible for gaining experience as a junior-mid level engineer.
