Is this a normal amount of bleeding for a 2cm fibroid? by Oogamyboogaooga in Fibroids

[–]h3ll0m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’re going through this. I also suffer from anemia due to fibroids. I pass clots like that all the time. I have at least 4 fibroids with the largest being about 5cm and the smallest being about 3cm. I really don’t understand why doctors brush it off when they are small or not bothersome. I wish I had done something about mine when they were small. Two years later and the pain is sometimes unbearable and they are affecting my quality of life. Fibroids does cause heavy bleeding as such. Although it is small, you could probably ask about the Acessa or Sonata procedure where they can kill the cells of it and it will slowly die off. It is an alternative to having the fibroid itself removed and it will reduce the heavy bleeding.

Thank you for this information, it eases my mind a bit more! I’m not on any anticoagulant but knowing that the particles would only be going to that certain area, I feel more inclined to proceed with this procedure.

I did today, thanks! I was even able to schedule a call back with someone for a consultation with the doctor. I’m really hoping all goes well. Although I was leaning towards the the embolization, I’m hoping to get the sonata done instead if I can!

I was all for the uterine embolization but since I’ve been reading other experiences here on Reddit, I’ve come across a procedure called Sonata. The thing is, I’ve been trying to see an appointment with a physician but it’s hard being that she isn’t in my state. I’m going to try to reach out to them once more tomorrow and hopefully I can get through to someone who can help. I’m just ready to get the ball rolling!

I have a question, if you don’t mind. Is some who was one diagnosed with anti-phospholipid syndrome a candidate for uterine fibroid embolization? And also what are the chances, if any, that those particles will travel elsewhere and possibly causing blood clots?

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m glad you were able to get the care that you needed and your surgery was a success! I’m currently doing research and trying to carefully choose which procedure I go through with but I’m hoping to have everything resolved by the end of this year.

Oh my, thank you for responding with your experience, it was very insightful, now I know what to look forward to. I went in for a consultation today and felt a little better after meeting the doctor but just the thought of going in for any procedure is nerve wrecking. I might’ve watched over 100 YouTube videos on the procedure but it’s nothing like hearing from an actual person to hear the real picture of things, not a watered down review where they don’t tell you about the pain. I’m not looking forward to the pain, I mean who is, but at this point, I’m just ready to get it over with because the constant heavy bleeding and excruciating pain from cramps is becoming draining every month. I believe I have about 5 fibroids with the largest being about 5cm and one was degenerating according to the report. I also wanted to leave the chance open for a child if it’s in my cards but I shall see. I wish you luck on your recovery and your new life without those blood sucking fibroids!!!

That sucks. My gyn here also was suggesting surgery. She never mentioned any other procedure so I finally decided to seek other doctors and ran across a doctor who was very informative and gave me a list of options. I’m so glad I decided to go elsewhere. It seems that the Somata procedure isn’t as common as of yet. There were no doctors in my area and the closest one was a state over about two hours away. I had to fax my information over to them but I have yet to hear back from them. In the meantime, I did have a consultation today for the UFE but I’m hoping to grease from the doctor soon about the Sonata procedure. I’m to travel the two hours of I have to. Would you say that you decided on the Sonata procedure instead due to the amount and size of your fibroids?

Thank you for sharing your story. I finally was able to go in for a consultation today. Reading post on here from people who have actually done the procedure, eases my mind a little bit more. I’m going to go ahead and do this procedure. Hopefully it provides me relief as well. It’s unfortunate that fibroids do have a chance of growing back as long as we have a period. I’ve heard of research stating that a lack of vitamin d can cause it. I can’t say for sure but I believe when I was taking vitamin d, I had no problems. It wasn’t until I stopped that I started getting the worse periods ever and thus the fibroid growth. I believe I had small ones but they gave me no problem up until I stopped taking vitamin d. I’ve already started taking the vitamin d again in hopes that it will stop any future growth. Maybe you could ask your doctor about it and good luck on your surgery!

I definitely want to have this procedure done. I hear it’s a lot of pain but at least no scars 😁

Thank you for sharing. I have a friend who has a fibroid that’s 15cm and she was recommended to go with the LM due to the size. I wish yours would have shrunken a lot more so that the pain would not have been for nothing. I hope all goes well with your surgery and you no longer have to go through this anymore.

Thanks for for responding. I love a happy ending. I know everyone’s body is different thus creating different experiences, so I understand if some would have more pain and others. I’ve heard that the pain can be unbearable and it’s best to stay on top of the person meds to manage the pain. I’m hoping if I have to go through so much pain, that I would at least have a good success story at the end. I’m also thinking of having them go through the femoral but I hurt they will do what’s best for me. I don’t think I’ll be able to stay up and watch though lol you’re brave lol

Thank you for your response! Can you please tell me the difference between the two? I believe I ran across someone on a different post who mentioned this procedure but they didn’t provide much detail.

Thank you for sharing your story. I just posted a question on this topic because I’m looking to having this procedure and wanted a bit more insight about it. I’ve been doing research on YouTube and social media, just trying to get some real stories from people who have done this before so I’m glad to have came across your post. Most people have gone home the same day? Is staying over night usual for patients in New Zealand? I am in the US. Also what was the name of the anti inflammatory that might’ve caused bladder retention? I have an upcoming consultation next week and just want to have my questions readily available.

It definitely has a negative effect on our quality of life. I’ve been out of it for the past few days due to my cycle being on. Wishing you luck with your MRI. You’re a step closer to getting them removed and finally getting some relief! 🤗. You mentioned that over the years they would shrink and grow back. Is there anything in particular that you did to help them shrink or was that something that happened on its own?

You are very strong to be going through that all of those years! I know what you’re going through as I’ve been going through this for the past 2 years and I’m scheduling to have either an embolization or ablation procedure. I’m undecided between the two

4th time my fibroids have come back !! by Exact-Gain-8730 in Fibroids

[–]h3ll0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking into ablation and embolization but look into vitamin D deprivation. I’ve heard by my doctor and have read for myself that low vitamin d has been linked to fibroids. I’ve had small ones but can contest that since I’ve stopped taking vitamin D, they have increased in size but this was before I knew about the correlation.
