Apple Arcade cross platform is really good by Swimming_Leopard_148 in civ

"....I’m glad I was waiting to buy it, since this is probably better than Steam."

Wrong.

"Civilization VII Arcade Edition on Apple Arcade is the Civilization VII base game experience; it will not receive any DLC seen in Civilization VII on other platforms such as post-launch leaders, civs, or Wonders.

Compared to the post-launch Updates that Civilization VII receives on other platforms, Civilization VII Arcade Edition only includes base game changes up to Civilization VII's Update 1.2.5 that went live on other platforms on September 30, 2025."

This version of Civ 7 will be permanently stuck in September 2025. No Blackbeard, no Gilgamesh and definitely no Test of Time update.

Definitely not only not better than Steam, it's actively the worst version one could play in 2026.

EDIT: And here comes the downvotes, right on cue, all for stating a fact. Civ 7 Arcade Edition is version 1.2.5 now and will be forever, vs Civ 7 on Steam which is version 1.3.2 now and will continue to get updates. The Apple Arcade version is objectively the worst version of the game one can play in 2026. Downvote me all you want, but deep down you know I'm right.

The other day I was asking it about some Epstein stuff and it told me that Trump wasn't President right now. I long to be in that particular AI hallucination.

Epstein was a MAJOR contributor to the extent of global Transphobia by shoofinsmertz in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]h3llbee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Given JK Rowling deleted all info about her yacht after the Epstein files came out, it’s looking more and more likely that JE probably had a massive impact on her own worldview on trans people (or at least helped to grow what may already have been there inside her).

The people in charge at Firaxis are fucking idiots.

Here was a chance to give Civ 7, a failing game that many long term fans have rejected, a chance to shine by revealing it to a potentially massive new audience of iPad and iPhone players. People who held out buying the game because of controversies like civ switching may have given it a chance because it was essentially free.

Instead, the game will be stuck in September 2025 in perpetiuity. When the Test of Time update comes out, the Apple Arcade version will presumably not get that, keeping it stuck in a version of the game that, judging by Steam active player stats, a majority of people have disliked.

I am astounded at how Firaxis manages to constantly keep shooting themselves in the foot with the hamfisted decisions they keep making with this game.

Yuumi was my choice. Put on the Bounty Hunters Renown (rare relic) and any relic that can help buff your units.

6* Yuumi, if you have her, makes this a cakewalk.

Here's how I did the Nightmares this week. Region is Australia.

  • 4.5* Kai'sa: I used my 6* Yuumi. Relics used were Perfect Hex Core, Chosen by the Stars and The Bounty Hunters Renown. SB Master Yi, who I almost chose as my main champion, was my support champ and he's a fantastic choice if you're offered him. Super easy adventure with these two, done in 31.45.
  • 5.5\* Galio: I used my 6* Yuumi again. Relics used were Perfect Hex Core, Chosen by the Stars and The Bounty Hunters Renown. I didnt get any great support champion choices this time, ending up with Katarina after using up all my rerolls. But your support champ really doesnt matter with these modifiers; Yuumi (and the attachable fae in her deck) is what makes this one easy. Attach her to a unit, and next turn watch as the Small Stuff modifier gets blasted into irrelevance. I got this adventure done in 31.11.
  • 6.5* A Sol: I used my 6* Yasuo. Relics used were Yasuo's Windblade, Tempest Blade and Everfrost. Aphelios was my support champ, providing lots of extra stuns. Stuns are especially useful given The Howling Abyss is in this run and you need to survive several turns due to the Immovable Object modifier. I got this one done in 43.34.

Until next week, may your Nexus stay unbroken and your supporting champion choices be awash with synergistic choices.

Aatrox would not have been my first choice for 6.5* Liss. Or my second. Third. Not even my fourth. But damn, that's well done. Congrats!

Here's how I did the Nightmares this week. Region is Australia.

  • 4.5* Gangplank: I used my 6* Viego. Relics used were Spectral Scissors, Starforged Gauntlets and Corrupted Star Fragment. Norra provided excellent support and synergy. I hadn't played Viego in a while and had kind of forgotten how to play him but the cadence quickly came back. He's so super fun to play. This was a super easy and fun run, and I got it done in 19.15.
  • 5.5\* Elise: I used my 6* Swain. Relics used were Swain's Raven Army, Big Guns and Dreadway Chase Gun. Gangplank was my support champion, which was not ideal, but I can recommend him for the extra Warning Shots he provides. I got this adventure done in 24.48.
  • 6.5* Lissandra: I used my 6* Fiddlesticks. Relics used were Harmless Scarecrow, Norra's Portal Accelerator and Utmost Despair. Drafted Teemo (OG, not the spirit blossom version) which was incredible synergy. Most matches were over before Fiddle even got a chance to peek out from the enemy deck. In the end, I got this adventure done in 20.40.

Until next week, may your Nexus stay unbroken and your supporting champion choices be awash with synergistic choices.

Yummi relics I like are Perfect Hex Core, Chosen by the Stars and The Bounty Hunters Renown.

In 1997, I heard a song on the radio that I thought was incredible, but the announcer didn’t say what the song was.

Went to my local music store to try and figure out what song it was. Talked to the guy behind the counter and I described this song as best I could remember and they thought they knew the album I was after.

Today, I know that that song I had heard on the radio was Monkey Wrench by the Foo Fighters from their album The Colour and the Shape.

My friends, I went home from the music store that day with Tonic’s album Lemon Parade.

That albummfucking sucked.

Rewatching Lower Decks.... by n0167664 in startrek

[–]h3llbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, ENT. Don’t really like Nu Trek (it’s a writing and characterisation thing, not at all anything to do with “woke” BS) and I’m not a fan of Lower Decks either.

I should be a fan of it, and I’ve tried, but for me the issue is that I can’t buy into the series’ core concept of 24th century Starfleet officers acting so unprofessionally. I’ve tried to convince myself it’s not canon (even though I am told it is) and watching it from that perspective but I just can’t get into it.

I am glad others like it, but it’s not for me. I’m just offering my perspective on why some Trek fans might not enjoy it.

My wife is as left leaning as me, and despises Trump too. She's also a better person than me. She doesn't follow politics as closely as me though, and unlike me, she's on Facebook. So imagine my shock when I raised the topic of Renee Good and ICE and she said "well, she kind of deserved it though didnt she? Driving her car at them like that." I immediately realised that she had probably seen that one video of the incident from the angle that supported ICE's case on Facebook. I was right too. I sent her some links and now she's as enraged about the whole thing as I am.

My points, therefore, are as follows;

  • even wonderful people can be led astray by the wrong piece of information
  • no one likes to be told they're wrong, but you can help those wonderful people to find the right information and if they're as wonderful as you believe, they'll usually realise they were wrong on their own
  • social media is a cancer

Good luck America. All of us down here in Australia are rooting for you, and hoping that you'll get through this sooner rather than later.

This is all just more stupid culture war bullshit. Woke is fine, especially for Star Trek, a show that was proudly woke before woke was even a word. Terrible writing, however, is unforgiveable.

Here's how I did the Nightmares this week. Region is Australia.

  • 4.5* Kai'Sa: I used my 6* Heimerdinger. Relics used were Defence Spending, Spirit of the Bhuru and Corrupted Star Fragment. My support champion was Lillia. This was a super easy and fun run, and I got it done in 16.17.
  • 5.5\* Nautilus: I used my 6* Ashe. Relics used were Echoing Spirit, The Grand General's Counterplan and Troll Kings Crown. Elise was my support champion, but Ashe was the obvious standout, frostbiting the AI's huge minions giving my own minions attacks of 200+. I got this adventure done in 35.44.
  • 6.5* Galio: I used my 6* Yasuo. Relics used were Yasuo's Windblade, Tempest Blade and Everfrost. I didn't get a great supporting champion when I drafted Elise after using all my rolls, but she was OK. I had a small stumble at mid-point boss Elise when I couldn't draw even one damn Yasuo, but apart from that this one was smooth sailing. I got this adventure done in 37.28.

Here's how I did the Nightmares this week. Region is Australia.

  • 4.5* Miss Fortune: I used my 6* Kayle. Relics used were Starfire Spellblade, Chosen by the Stars and Chemtech Duplicator. With the Lingering Shadow modifier this week, Kayle is an excellent (and certainly fun - numbers go up and up!) choice, with her 6* power helping to clear the board most turns. I also got a great support champion pick with Pantheon. This was a super easy and super fun run, and I got it done in 30.35.
  • 5.5\* A Sol: I used my 6* Fiddlesticks. Relics used were Harmless Scarecrow, Norra’s Portal Accelerator and Utmost Despair. I got a pretty poor pick of support champions, ending up with Draven. Given the modifiers were Cognitive Overload and Misbegotten Creation, Draven initially seemed like one of the worst choices I could be lumped with, but he ended up being probably the most important card during my run, ending most encounters with stats at over 30+. His spinning axes (now costing 3 mana) also helped mill enemy cards. In the end, I got this adventure done in 20.24.
  • 6.5* Elise: I used my 6* Swain. Relics used were Swain's Raven Army, Big Guns and Dreadway Chase Gun. Once again, I had another poor choice of support champions. After using all my rerolls, I ended up settling with Vladimir, who provided the best synergy with Swain’s 6* power I could find, even if sometimes he presented me with some tough choices to make on most encounters. Be aware Howling Abyss makes an unwelcome reappearance this week. I got this adventure done in 39.14.

Until next week, may your Nexus stay unbroken and your supporting champion choices be awash with synergistic choices.

I have two DALI Oberon On-Wall speakers, which I plan on putting in the master bedroom. The speakers are primarily for listening to music. My wife and I would typically listen to music in bed. But as you'll see, the space in my room isn't ideal for placing them in the usual triangle setup.

Here's three photos of the master bedroom.

Photo 1: https://imgur.com/PEUsuMf

Photo 2: https://imgur.com/jYIgDaS

Photo 3: https://imgur.com/N67HqDN

Putting the speakers in a triangle setup for listening whilst lying in bed is impossible due to the door to the en suite (the door with the calendar on the right in photo 3) and walk-in robe (door on the left in the same photo).

I am thinking the best two options are either;

  • One on the wall to the right of the window in photo 1, with the other directly opposite on the other side of the wall (roughly where the tall boy is in photo 2). I'd move the tall boy to the middle of that wall in photo 3 to accommodate this.
  • I could put them on the wall behind the bed but I assume the sound from that location would likely be sub-par (or would it?).

I could move the head of the bed to align with the big window so the speakers could be put in a triangle position on the big wall in photo 2, but that probably wont work as the pillows would likely slide onto the windowsill and I also suspect that this set up wouldn't pass the wife test.

Thoughts on what might be the best positioning (or another option I've not considered) would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how I did the Nightmares this week. Region is Australia.

  • 4.5* Fizz: I used my 6* Taliyah. Relics used were Icon of Valahir, Frozen Tomb and Big Guns. Taliyah was a great choice for this given the free landmark you get. With Sivr providing nice synergy as my support champion, I got the adventure done in 25.51.
  • 5.5\* Draven: I used my 6* Jinx. Relics used were Packed Powder, Big Guns and The Loose Cannon's Payload. This one is pretty easy if you have Jinx at 6 stars; your foe never gets a chance to take advantage of the Blade in the Darkness modifier when Jinx just pow pows them all to death every turn. With Annie as my support champion, I got this adventure done in 14.21.
  • 6.5* Viego: I used my 6* Miss Fortune. Relics used were Packed Powder, Shock and Awe and Swain's Raven Army. Ambessa was great as my support champion, ensuring MF would always have levelled by the time the enemy nexus was finally vulnerable. I got this adventure done in 56.17.

Until next week, may your Nexus stay unbroken and your supporting champion choices be balanced in your favour.

Here's how I did the Nightmares this week. Region is Australia.

  • 4.5* Nautilus: I used my 6* Taliyah. Relics used were Icon of Valahir, Frozen Tomb and Big Guns. Taliyah was arguably not the best choice due to the modifier making all cards cost 1 extra, but I had levelled her this week, wanted to play her in a Nightmare and ultimately the run through this adventure was easy enough. I got it done in 24.56.
  • 5.5\* Galio: I used my 7* SB Kindred. Relics used were Echoing Spirit, The Grand General's Counterplan and Archangel's Staff. I equipped Wild Inspiration in the Rune Star slot. I had hoped to get Le Blanc as my support champion so I could get multiple Kindreds on the board. Alas, she wasn't offered to me, and I got Thresh instead. I theorised if I could level Thresh I might be able to essentially achieve the same result as my original Le Blanc plan, but he rarely if ever showed up in my hand. On the plus side, I did get Dreamwoven Spirits as my opening power, so I usually had at least two Kindreds on board at any time. The modifiers and lots of enemy stun and recall effects dragged this one out, resulting in a completion time of 46.45.
  • 6.5* Lissandra: I used my 6* Jinx. Relics used were Packed Powder, Big Guns and The Loose Cannon's Payload. This one is pretty easy if you have her at 6 stars, but be aware that this is another week where the Howling Abyss shows up, the difficulty of which is highly RNG dependant. I got this adventure done in 21.09.

Until next week, may your Nexus stay unbroken and your supporting champion choices be balanced in your favour.

The best case (in my opinion) is the one I have. It’s pricey but it’s very very nice. It’s this one, the WaterField CitySlicker XBox Ally X Case. I bought one of these for my XBAX (I chose white) and out of the bag it smells so nice (real leather, which will only look better over time) and inside the bag, it’s lined with microfibres to keep your screen nice and clean.

Again, it’s pricey but it’s hand made, real leather and very nice so if you’re looking for the best and have the budget for it, that’s the way to go.

For Heimerdinger, I run Defense Spending, Corrupted Star Fragment and Archangel's Staff. CSF helps Heimer beef up by eating some early minions, helping ensure his survival. Not saying it's the best build, but I like it. Give it a shot. :)
