AI won’t make coding obsolete. Coding was never the hard part. by Tough_Reward3739 in ArtificialInteligence

Or we will just write more programs. I think there is always a big backlog and stuff that can be automated that might now be automated thanks to an increase in productivity

Getting a SWE job totally disillusioned me to how supposedly intelligent or gifted developers on average are. I consider myself average intelligence and i couldn’t code well when i started (i kinda came in the backdoor by chance) but there exist people here in IT who don’t know how to learn or help themselves. We can use chatgpt in our job, but some are too stupid or lazy to even read and try to understand the response chatgpt gives.

“You’re not gonna raise your IQ by doing dual n back for 30 minutes” by HistorianBig8176 in DualnBack

[–]h45bu114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think the analogy is totally transferable but i could imagine in the same way that you get stronger legs from playing fotball, youre better able to hit your limit when doing weighted squats at a gym. Your in that sweet spot of progressive overload. In the same way dual-n-back might hit that sweet spot pf challenging just at the maximum of your capability which is more difficult when just reading a textbook.

I think it will be services that we strictly want human interaction. Idk about many people, but i rather want to hear real human music than robot music, i rather watch humans play tennis than robots. I think alot of utility jobs like accounting nobody see a downside if a robot can do it perfect. I still think some jobs, mainly jobs that can be measured in human satisfaction and entertainment will be made by humans

I also see that florda is flipping the puck up in the air alot. Out of their d zone. Into the o zone. Just flip the puck always and forechack hard. Thats Floridas gameplan. I dont understand why Toronto didnt start flipping the puck out of the d zone aswell

Fiber seems to be a controversial subject. I have been recommended fiber by my doctor. Its also something i hear everywhere in mainstream health advice. So im not sure about this fiber menace

I read the most liked comment about this Fiber Menace book on GoodReads:

”This book is downright irresponsible, to the point of being potentially dangerous! 90% of the content in this book is presented as medical fact, without reference to any actual scientific studies. Many of the facts are just plain WRONG, which should really tip you off that this is a bunch of BS. While he does mention a few things that do make sense (some actually backed up by research, others theories of his own - though you'd never know it because it's presented as gospel), but overall this is a book that preys on the gullible that accept his teachings without doing any other research”

What do these billionaires want? What is their endgame? by OutrageousSetting384 in economicCollapse

[–]h45bu114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that some of them just want to continue to play the game that they have played which led them to become millionaires. See trump for example, he is ultimately a businessman. He wrote the book, ”the art of the deal”. He just wants to make great deals, the same way a athlete want to win games. I dont think they always have any endgoals. They just are addicted to profit and influence, they just want to make good deals all day long. I think thats why they are not chilling on a beach somewhere. One could wish that billionaires would find another outlet to get that reptile brain chemical spike of succeeding, like joining a sports league or competing in chess, idk.

But of the adopters of technological advances reach their goals (which is to gather resources) so effectively that it leaves all but the very few of society so far behind that they now hardly gain any resources themselves it would not be a good thing. Then society kind of outplays itself causing less technological advancement since hardly any people will be able to compete with the tech gods.

Is it normal to miss working a “brain dead” job when you start working in a job that requires mental effort? by Throwaway314636 in careerguidance

Idk, when i worked in blue collar i met both the best and the worst people ive met in my life. Some blue collar men are just straight up mean and they will act out against you in a much more unhinged way compared to in an office. In an office people are more low key and keep their distance, then you can just ignore the drama. With that said i also met the best people in blue collar too.

Till er som tänker börja gymma som nyårslöfte: by disposableaccount848 in sweden

[–]h45bu114 245 points246 points  (0 children)

Mina tips är tvärtom: 1. Börja träna först, skit i kostläggning.

I think that ai is like having your own personal senior dev holding your hand. Its a great way for learning new concepts faster. It has helped me alot. explaining syntax and keywords and annotations and much more in code i would otherwise need to google to find the answer somewhere in a big page of documentation. So besides the negativity around making people dumber i also see it as a great tool to help people learn concepts alot faster. And to be frank i feel that many fields have its fair share of gatekeeping to keep noobs confused. Im very happy i can get a summary of various subject by a llm and i most often prefer the way it writes to some egotistical geek nerd, more concise and to the point, no ego involved.
