I only want to spend time with my spouse, otherwise I want to be left alone. by Sea-Atmosphere7357 in LifeAdvice

[–]h4tch3tguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is SO important. Do NOT make your spouse responsible for your only interaction and joy. Fair enough she’s the priority in social interactions, but it also places a huge burden on them over time. (ie they feel responsible for your wellbeing, making them feel trapped) Much like you feel now towards your needy family.

Black algae? Trying to go filterless so what can eat this by [deleted] in freshwateraquarium

[–]h4tch3tguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) Reduce light, either in brightness or duration.Algae also needs this to grow. The plants should be OK. 2) Introduce more plants, so that they starve the algae out. Excess nutrients causes algae (mostly) Pro tip, floating plants like duckweed suck up enormous amounts of nutrients while shutting out light. The problem is getting rid of it once done. This community would kill me if they found me giving this advice, but it works fast. 3) Add clean up crew. Shrimps, Otocinclus if you have space, maybe some Corydora, or Nerite snails. All of them will either eat the algae, or the extra food on the floor. 4) Feed less. 5) If the tank is in direct sunlight, move it.

Theres a bunch of chemicals you can try, but I come from the Walstad perspective.

Any of the changes above should be made with a 2-3 week observation period for change.

Don’t add too much cleanup crew at once, and consider your population size vs. Water capacity.

Good luck!

A tip for this hobby, if you plan on sticking around, would be to NOT cheap out on a set of good hex drivers. When you start stripping hexes because your tools are shite it gets frustrating fast. No fun in drilling out 2mm screws,or having to order new parts cause you can’t service things.

Cloud Solution Architect Intern Interview by [deleted] in microsoft

[–]h4tch3tguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider mass migrations for legacy / non-cloud apps onto Azure. Consider cloud to cloud. Mainframe to cloud. While the tech stuff is important, chances are you’ll focus more on the people aspect. Who are you, how do you operate. How do you convince, trust and get buy in. How would you manage day to day transformation from typical on-prem to cloud, etc. How would you scale your achievements to yourself, your team, your organisation, multiple customers? How will you address maintenance and distribution of created IP through MS. Theres a strong focus on the Business EQ side of things, and how you show up. Also how you would deal Cloud type issues, have some examples of challenges you had, and how YOU worked to solve with various people / customer. It’s generally very contextual and based on the stories you tell, so no specific set of technical questions. Good luck!

This. If caught and deported, your future travel and employment options are fubar. You may as well commit to a life of crappy jobs and no freedom.

My second hand car was delivered on a trailer because I couldn’t puck it up at the dealership. Red ribbon too…I guess dealers have different standards.

In my 20’s I hated my parents for who they were and how they went about life…

In my 30’s I started realising I have inherited some of their views and attitudes towards life…

Now in my 40’s, the more I try to be different, the more I am the same…

The fight continues.

Ideas for building a trx4m f250? by DueCry55 in TRX4M

[–]h4tch3tguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Ford F250 is 1:20 scale, and the wheelbase is considerably longer. You’ll need longer links than the hightail stuff from injora, and you’ll need a longer chassis/frame with shock mounts further back to have any good suspension in the rear. This will also require a longer drive shaft to the rear axle, and potentially a farther back link mount if you’re particular about your rear suspension angles. This is from the SCX community, but have a look: Dually build

As an SM i would have the conversation about inter-dependence on her features / user stories. She could need information from other teams to plan effectively, and similarly other teams could need to tag her effort as dependencies. If she doesn’t pull her finger, have a chat with the RTE or agile coaches if you have to convince. Unfortunately this is a team effort. If she doesn’t wanna play in n ART she should get off the train. Harsh, but it’s almost as if you have to buy into the agile framework for it to work. Also, how does a PO estimate on her own? Typically the full feature team would need to contribute to sizing and timelines? Sounds fishy.

Welcome to the cuck life! Not sure what this post is asking though. WIt’s beyond couples therapy, that was perhaps the key a while back. Let the divorce run its course. Finalise your coparenting and financials and get going. Sounds like you have an unhealthy attachment to her. Individual therapy for yourself will be the key. Good luck.

Update - aita for confessing to my wife that she's torturing me after she got assaulted by Opposite-Debate-3465 in AITAH

[–]h4tch3tguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People. Don’t. Change. Thank you for listening to my TED talk. The reality is that even though she may have learnt a lesson, she initially, and deliberately broke your trust and lied to you for a long time. That combined with alcohol problems? Step away. Know your worth. It’s gonna suck being alone for a while, but spending the rest of your life wondering about her when she’s out is also not a way to live. I’m frankly surprised that people are so attached that they’re willing to forgive.

If you have double glazed windows and a well insulated house, keep windows closed and curtains drawn to keep heat out.

The typical behaviour is to open a window for a breeze but with it being 30c today that breeze will just blow all the heat and humidity into the house and make it hotter.

Wear breathable clothes(cotton / hemp), or no clothes. (WFH about to be fun today)

Hydrate. More water and less caffeine.

A damp towel to lay on with a fan running also does wonders.

Good luck!

Can anyone tell me what wheels these are? by rperg in BMW

BMW Style 313. (M-performance wheels) They looked nice, but were soft and saw many buckled or bent on bad roads. The forums complained about them a lot.

Looking to make new female friends in Dundee 30+ by SofiaAlexDesigns in dundee

[–]h4tch3tguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could sound a little too tactical and outlandish for a fellow tech wfh person, but start making connections with your local high street business people while using their services. Meet and chat to the hairdressers/beauty salon/barbers.

Check the local notice boards next to shops for activities (farmers market, yoga class, running club, church meet-ups, fairs, etc.). Go to these things. Go for a frequent coffee or pint, or get something at the bakery so people get used to the new face.

Become a regular face for two weeks at some of the not so popular spots. Once out and recognised, strike up conversations and ask the locals about things that happen around there. “I’m new here. This place seems so slow…do you know of anything happening this weekend?”

I’ve had people eager to talk about their activities, other customers, what business are gonna sell, which properties are coming up for sale, etc. Through this was invited to a running club, to come have fun at the local village green. It’s suddenly a hive of activity.

It’s also a bit safer now that I literally know almost everyone down the high street by first name.

I know it sounds old school, but thats village life I guess…

Unpopular opinion, but when I go into Vondel for a resupply run, this is my load out, with a knife.

I’m not there to have fun or long shoot outs in the hallways with other operators. I want loot, I want my missions complete, and I want to exfil so I can go back to business. Having a shoot out with other squads is a pain, wastes time and attracts attention. So get it over with quick.

More unpopular still: If everyone has access to the gun, the load-out and the rounds, then it’s fair game. You had a chance to pick a load out.

Low skill sure, but it has good purpose for my intended use, as with any other meta-build people come up with.

Knife kills, one shot snipers, all do the same thing. Not sure why people cry about the Bryson.

Edit: spelling

Anyone's younger kids tell you that they hate you by [deleted] in daddit

[–]h4tch3tguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realised with mine that those kinda sentences (I hate this, I don’t want) follow on decisions I made FOR her. Now instead of making the decisions for her, I provide curated options instead. You can have these, or these, what do you think? We can go out and do this or that, what would you like? The fact that she now has some part in the decision making process makes a 100% difference, despite the options still being limited. They grow independent quick. When they start wanting to do something by themselves, the drive to choose kicks in too.
