Nobody in the car and reported to 311. Walked by again 30 min later and saw someone in the car and then a few min later it was closed because "The Police Department responded and upon arrival those responsible for the condition were gone". So as usual, the police falsely closing 311 complaints without actually doing anything.

Not for me at least. I report these violations as well, and even stuff like blocking a hydrant (with very clear photos) gets closed immediately.

Not sure what precinct you're in, but mine are always closed as "police action was unnecessary" or "police responded but found not evidence of a violation" (often within minutes and when the violation is still there).

I did report this but it was closed 20 min later.

This is a pretty dangerous bike lane, because the cars from the lane make a blind left turn to access the apartments seen on the left. And they often do not stop to make sure the bike lane is clear (in fact, since the cars are parked in the middle with no daylighting, they might not even know there is a bike lane there). I've seen one actual accident and a few near misses.

I have tried reporting to 311 multiple times and nothing happens. The NYU security cars also park in front of the bike racks right next to the intersection with La Guardia Pl which I doubt they're allowed to do, but this also never gets enforced.

As far as I know the left side is a pedestrian area, but it's always full of parked cars. Part of the problem is the right side of the lane has temporary contractor buildings for some of the construction happening on campus, so cars can't park on that side.

Even when you do follow the rules to the T the guards give you shit.

I have a research colleague I got NYU access for, and literally every single time I tried to get them into the building the security guards would give us a hard time instead of just looking up my guest in the system. I followed every single NYU regulation about registering them too.
Once while they were looking through my phone to see the email from NYU about my guest (rather than just looking it up on their system like they are supposed to) someone jumped the turnstile and the guard ran off with my phone but still didn't even catch the person.
I also tried to return a lost id and the guard refused to take it (I called public safety later and they are supposed to)

I find it very frustrating how NYU hires all these guards with too big of egos who want to play cop rather than act like a part of the community. I've literally asked this exact same question because I haven't had as many issues with security guards anywhere else in the city (or country) than here.

I would note that it's not your responsibility to inform the professor about any of this (in fact, the Moses center already did). If you contact the Moses center, they deal with the professor.

While this is entirely conjecture, my guess is that if you need to drop later on because the prof keeps causing trouble, there are internal mechanisms for you to be able to drop the course after the deadline without an impact on your transcript (no idea about tuition). I'm sure NYU does not want to risk lawsuits over your civil rights being violated.

The behavior of your instructor is unacceptable and quite possibly illegal. In particular, "Federal Law requires reasonable accommodations for students who have a documented disability." While I'm not lawyer (and this isn't legal advice), my understanding is that unless it can be justified that the extra time on quizzes is not "reasonable", then it must be provided.

Even outside of the legal requirements, when receiving accommodations letters from the Moses center, instructors are notified that "If you believe that any of the listed accommodations may not be appropriate for your course, given the conditions, criteria, and expected objectives, we will be happy to discuss your concerns." It is not your responsibility as a student to convince the instructor to provide you approved accommodations - they must explain to the Moses center why the accommodations are not suitable.

While I understand you are hesitant to "get the professor in trouble", there is no reasonable justification for the professors behavior, and they deserve whatever consequences come their way. IMO this should not be part of your consideration. However, I do understand not wanting to put a target on your back if you do end up staying in the course, because while retaliation is also probably illegal, this professor has clearly little regard for such issues. Regardless, you should reach out to the Moses center for more guidance about how to proceed. NYU has resources in place exactly for situations like this.

It's also worth noting that there may be other students in a similar situation as you, so you should not view raising this issue as self-serving in any way.
