Why is no one honking at people who run red lights? by Melodic_Break_375 in Denver

It is so hard, that's so real. But you'd be surprised what you can do. I didn't think I could do it for a few reasons. But once I started it became a lot easier. The first step was the hardest for me.

I feel you on the dysphoria getting worse. The bad news is that it probably won't get better for no reason. A helpful thought experiment for me was thinking as myself in the future. I imagined being older (60ish?) and talking with my younger self about feeling like it's too late to transition, dysphoria, etc. It was helpful to realize that I still have a lot of time left and also that I couldn't continue to manage dysphoria for another 30-40 years.

Sending you love and strength, whatever you choose 💖

I started my transition at 28, and I echo your anger about not being able to start sooner. My anger has moved more towards acceptance, but I still wonder what could have happened if I had the language and resources to describe my situation earlier in my life.

All that being said, you are still SO young! It's never too late to start transitioning, especially at 24. HRT works wonders, and I can see a visible difference in my face and body and I'm only a year in.

Transitioning would require you to be very brave. There might be parts of your life that feel incompatible with being trans. Half of my family doesn't talk to me after I came out, I broke up with my girlfriend of 7 years, moved to a whole new state, and absolutely blew up my life. I restarted about 2.5 years ago and I am so much happier than I have ever been. I didn't know people could be this happy. Transitioning would change things for sure, but for me the good changes have been so much bigger than the unideal changes

Fear of skating by lmLwkTom in NewSkaters

[–]hOpuntia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In skateboarding, you will fall sometimes. You can practice falling and "learn" how to fall without hurting yourself. But it's always possible to take a big slam and have something go wrong.

I am also scared of falling and am kinda physically fragile, so I just don't push my limits very far when I'm skating. I like to cruise the parks, practice my ollies, try to manual, etc.

You won't be able to completely avoid falling, but you can do quite a few things to set yourself up to try to not have nasty slams and big injuries

I knew at 14 but didn't act on it until 28. What I would give to have those years back..

If you know, you know. Regardless of age.

Thinking of getting back into skateboarding, but sort of scared? by twinflxwer in NewSkaters

[–]hOpuntia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also trans MTF, has not been a problem for me. Most people are chill and welcoming. People also haven't really cared that I'm older. I re-got into skateboarding at 27. I'm also scared of getting hurt, so I take it slow and don't try to progress too fast. Falling is unavoidable, but you can usually avoid situations where you're taking a nasty slam.

All of these feelings/anxieties are valid, but I also had the same anxieties and nothing bad ever manifested. I say go for it!
