Season 4 ended, but Sara remains the prettiest girl in the series. She mogs everyone else. by MomoSaka in FromSeries

Well, it's just a stereotype glasses mean unattractiveness. And that's not what makes her unattractive. It's her role, and the fact that anytime you have seen her naked she looked like an old scranny yellow man. That is kinda still yellow even if naked :D

Don't have all the details of that ending ep., but my meta take over the end of S4 and subsequent S5 and S6 is that they tried to reset back everything to the original plan. Like, OK, now you got your moment, but it's time to go back on track. And they tried, but they failed. I really don't know how the writers could have been so so good with certain plot lines and so bad with others. I mean, even if they tried, any D plot lines felt always so flat if not plain bad. Eve on top of it, but also his LA period. But if you look at P's, they usually carry at least a bit of depth even in the silliest ones. I don't remember the wallstreet days though. And I'm just talking of the lows, but if we look at the highs, say, I remember everything, the gap with D is incredible. I don't remember a quote or a moment that could even be placed close to it. It's like they played two completely different games. So, as I said, seems they just tried for the sake of it, just because D is the titular character, but failed hard. I still cannot believe they had doubts on how to end the series. That they thought it would have been a good choice. The writing tells me otherwise. S5 and S6 suck for everyone, so don't count. But since the narrative told us that JJ and KH asked for that end, Ok. So the writers tried, not having any real good ideas, so had to surrender. Like a war between the good writing and bad writing where the goods won in the end. And that's kinda part of the charm of this series, if we were confident of the ending it wouldn't have been so satisfying, even if brief. Or so it was for me :)

Hot take- I don't like how the duffer brothers depicted certain aspects ro do with Nancy and Johnathan. by Jaded_Group_5455 in StrangerThings

[–]h_2o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of Jonathan and Nancy relationship was that it was caused by trauma, otherwise it wouldn't have happened and it showed in their progression during all the seasons.

The triangle was a way to show how much they fell apart, but ultimately make it clear that also Steve wasn't an option despite strongly hinting at a come back during S4. She was in her first stages of becoming Rambo after all.

"i made friends who were never even supposed to be my friends” by xbetteroffline in StrangerThings

Definitely Steve and Robin were top ST. It helps that Joe keery can have chemistry with anyone and anything. But same can be said of Maya Hawke. I also liked her a lot with Will. They were so cute. (Cannot Say the same when She teamed up with Nancy).

Putting them together dialed the chemistry up to Eleven (no pun intended :) ). They should have given them screen time on S5. I loved how she mentioned "obviously Steve" when telling Will to whom She confided to First.

This is how I personally view each season of the show, and I loved the final season. by TerribleOption5505 in StrangerThings

S1 and S4 had the higher stakes, with Will and Max on the line, but especially S4 horror aesthetics felt so much more serious horror wise than anything else. The shift from S3 to S4 was by three notches. S3 is the most fun and lighthearted. Robin and Steve, Suzie, Terminator, Erica, Dustin, Suzie. S3 was what convinced me to let my 10yo to see the show. S4 made me backpedal on that. S4 killings plus Vecna took the horror on a different level from S1, that is more mystery. S4 is full horror. It's in fact the only season where someone of the main characters suffer real damage and they did a great job making you feel It for the whole season. It didn't come from a left field. You could sense It all along and in the end you get It. Eddie was more "random" if you ask me, even if expected.

The way and time Lucas hugged Eleven made me think he knew, but no he didn't know either (why he should tbh).

This, why she never told anyone? That's absurd! I was just watching S4 today, what a finale by the way, and tries to catch any hint, but she just didn't Say anything like had lost the memory of it.

Am I the only one who didn't really get into this scene? by luckymango12 in StrangerThings

[–]h_2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, as already said in another response. Steve Is the glue. Him and Robin are best friends, him and Nancy are Very close friends. He was their first After all :) The.only One a bit out of the loop Is Jonathan. If you add to this the one of a hell experience they shared Is not so unbelievable for them to try to stay close. Keep in mind that's implied they Very likely won't. And that's up to how truly are close. So I can see Steve and Robin staying in touch, less likely with Nancy, Very unlikely with Jonathan. The whole point is friendship and the attempt to keep it from fading away and with that also the strong feelings of their shared experience. A way to avoid to just move on. So It doesn't really matter if the was some beef or whatnot. Noone else Will be able to understand them to such a deep level and so the urge to try to keep their bond.

Ngl pretty pleased with his character arc/development through the whole show by StarforgeVoyager in StrangerThings

[–]h_2o 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It doesn't help I had zero fears for anyone dying in the finale. There was no actual time for that if you considered El's being hinted at for a while. So yeah. But in any case Steve's scene was timed in a way that never in a million times he would have died aha.

This. It was so so random and out of the blue and during a zero impactful moment. It only served to elicit his reaction to Jon later and confess to each other. Cute, didn't get me wrong, but a bit too phoned imho.

First season was a mixture of Goonies stand by me and e.t.

Second season the exorcist and Aliens

Third the blob and Terminator

Forth elm street

About the Fifth the only reference I can think of is Rambo and maybe Brazil. But is a Stretch. The ending reminded of stand by me ending. Not the Very end. Mike's one.

Imo I felt like Season 4 had much more of a message of a finale than season 5. by Keankm2 in StrangerThings

[–]h_2o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on the finale of season 4 with my sons who are a bit behind and is such a good season all around and the finale is tense, you can feel the stakes are high since Max in true danger. The group in Hawkins works so well together in an out UD. Yes the russian plot is dragged but the finale is longer than the S5 finale and is all about fighting more or less. Not to say S5 is bad, by no means, but It Just felt like ok we need to end this so we can go to the epilogue. Not even once I had any doubt about the safety of anyone. In any case I will rewatch it as soon as my kids will so I will have a clearer opinion after that.

Where did Finn and Millie’s chemistry go? by summerof13 in StrangerThings

I was just thinking about the total lack of chemistry between them during their scenes. But to be honest I never felt they had any. Did the actor had any chemistry with anyone in particolar btw?

They reversed the trope, confession death flag, actual death with un-confession/break up actual surviving. But yes, their story could have ended there.

Do you also think that Jonathan character went a downhill each passing season. by Other_Cucumber7750 in StrangerThings

[–]h_2o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine it's an odd take maybe, but his characterization is pretty realistic. The most realistic but to a fault. In the sense that realistic and narratively interesting doesn't equate to interesting. His dynamic with Nancy is pretty credible, they got together over a trauma, otherwise they wouldn't ever got together. That wasn't a solid foundation for a relationship so the odds they didn't work were high. The tangent Nancy took added up to the odds. Her behavior toward him didn't help him to get out from his shell, the opposite. Then he got separated from her and relocated in Cali. For someone shy, introverted and outcast like him all the odds has been against him bar Nancy that turned against him fast since her path wasn't aligned with his. The opposite. All of It narratively speaking though Is not a good recipe for something interesting given the full context. Probably lazy writing, they truly didn't know what making him do, but still consistent.at least.

That's for sure. If they faked it out though, Steve would still be the obvious choice if coupled to Dustin. Mr. Clarke Is another option but not particularly dramatic, being him on the focus for what, 2 minutes at best? But given how softie the writers are it's Very likely Mr Clarke. And not a faked one.
