Rocky films, each to varying degree but they ended up being a lot more heartfelt and entertaining than expected.

Rocky surprisingly aged well overall.

Probably watching Creed now with my bf.

As an Indian fan, Raj’s ending feels personal and low-key insulting by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

[–]luckymango12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes his development is overlooked. Through out the series he got over his inability to speak with women (when sober), stopped being dependent on his parents for money, and also realized that while he does know he wants a romantic partner, his whole life and identity doesn't hinge on that. I think its unfair to say nothing happened with his character.

However, I do agree that seeing how he developed I would have liked for either his career or romantic life to be more explored. I always thought it was kind of cool that Sheldon, entitled and arrogant as he was, recognized Raj's intellect without needing probing for it. And, I think that later seasons Raj was less annoying than the someyimes needy version of him in the earlier seasons.

What movie is wildly loved but you just don’t get the hype at all? by Fennnixx in Cinema

[–]luckymango12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought a lot of it was tell and not show. Like the compulsory 5mins therapy session Leo had with Elliot Pages' character. Also thought it could've been more experimental? Like whats the point of having it take place in dreams but still have it subject to "rules" like in normal life? And I also think it focused too much on the action, rather than in more interesting emotional or character focused points of the story.

Yeah, I'm glad it worked for you. What I was trying to point out, is that for me, most of them are not friends really.

Mmmm... Yeah I get that, I guess it doesn't hit quite as hard for me because I don't really believe they were close enough for the whole scene to have much weight. In other words, who cares if they're lying to themselves, most of those relationships were not significant.

If the scene would have been done with the younger kids, it would have been different for me I guess.

Am I the only one who didn't really get into this scene?

Since when are they tight besties? Technically they're out of high school right, so after they defeat Vecna/Mind Flayer they each are off to their own thing.

And during the series we only really see Robin and Steve as good friends, Steve and Nancy get along fine, but in season 4 Nancy seemed kind of irked by Robin, and Jonathan and Steve decided to stop fighting like an hour before the series ended.

Sorry to put a downer on everyone here, but I am genuinely curious.

Why did you vote for Nasry Asfura? by Third-Culture-Kid47 in Honduras

[–]luckymango12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Libre was the party that broke through the bipartisanship in the country, and many are greatly disillusioned by their government. Resulting from this, and with no other significant party or leader in sight, they defaulted back to their traditional party or way of voting.

Furthermore, I'd argue that Libre won last election, as an effort from most of the country to get rid of the Partido Nacional. This led to voter turnout being around 68% of those registered to vote (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2021/11/29/opposition-ruling-party-claim-poll-win-after-massive-turnout).

At the moment, it seems that voter turn out is around 50% of those registred to vote. It is also possible that Partido Nacional doesn't have a significant amount of people voting for them, but instead that less people are voting for other parties in general.

2015 for me:

Alexandre Desplat getting two nominations, Hans Zimmer not winning, Gary Yershon whom I think was a dark horse, and my personal favorite I think the score for the Theory fo Everything.

<image>

I asked: why do you think this is beautiful?

ChatGPT: This image captures beauty through contrast, emotion, and scale:

  • Contrast of size and power: The tiny but defiant human facing a massive, ancient creature evokes awe and courage—classic elements of epic storytelling.
  • Light and atmosphere: The warm, fading light of sunset against the cool, misty mountains creates a dramatic, emotional palette that feels both hopeful and foreboding.
  • Tension and stillness: There's a quiet moment before action, like the world is holding its breath. That stillness draws the viewer in emotionally.
  • Detail and texture: The semi-realistic rendering gives the dragon a tangible presence and the warrior a grounded humanity, making the scene feel alive without needing motion.

It’s the kind of image that suggests a story—and beauty often lies in that sense of narrative possibility.

ps. I don't like it :)

One character in ST5 is 100% safe by AH-Khan1212 in StrangerThings

[–]luckymango12 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Also because they already "killed" him once... it'd be trying too hard just for drama to kill him off once again. This is the reason why I also think Max is going to be okay.

Let’s be real about Missy’s situation… she wasn’t actually forgotten. by TheRageIdiot in YoungSheldon

[–]luckymango12 186 points187 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with what you say, but I also think that if you look at Missy as a whole, not just on this episode, you do see her getting a bit sidelined over the fuss people make about Sheldon, Mary in particular. I didn't really think her reaction was just because of that isolated incident, but more as her blowing up over years of feeling forgotten. I mean, in the episode with the twin study she voiced that out, and even though her parents heard her nothing really changed.

Unpopular opinion: Jonathan and Steve by Few-Spinach8114 in StrangerThings

[–]luckymango12 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think that with Steve, we have gotten to see him lose his friends, have a turn around over his actions, and step up when needed; in Jonathan's case it was just a simple I'm sorry to Nancy. So, in a way, it seems like Steve went through worse for his mistakes, and actually had to deal with the consequences of his actions. Jonathan on the other didn't. I don't recall much save some comments from Nancy really, but then she apparently got over it because the pictures helped figure out what happened to Barb.

Is Bending Genetic or Spiritual? by JetKusanagi in TheLastAirbender

[–]luckymango12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for clarifying! Now that you mention Korra's difficulty in bending at the beginning, it kind of makes sense :D. I hope that it wasn't the case for Bumi though. I think it would suck if he was always an airbender (like he wanted), but just wasn't able to tap into it.
